OOC: Strelk? Where'd you go? Whatever.
BIC: Oh Dear!**Song flew from her seat and over to the other wounded otter, having finished her previous job. She ushered the otter down and again pulled out her herbs. Another infection? Oh my, I'm nervous... She smiled a slightly encouraging grin, and braced herself.**Ummm, okay, what happened?

*If the circumstances had been different, Tritan would have been compassionate with the Medic who had a distinct tremble in her voice. He let himself down, shutting his eyes tight to block out the pain. Unfortunately it did not work, and he gritted his teeth, in worse mood than before.*
Ummm, okay, what happened?
*His eyes blazed. What use was it? Why couldn't she just heal him? She was a Medic, after all. He watched her take out her herbs with infinite care and pain took that moment to bolt suddenly through his body. He flinched and painfully turned his head to see his side wound. It was starting to swell up and redden, with the afflicted area starting to feel like it was burning. he angrily turned his head to Songwind and yelled:*
Would ye please get on with it! I've been lyin' here like a discarded rag for seasons! I had a little fight with foxes, now heal me!
*His tone was very angry and impatient, but also betrayed the smallest plead.*

**Song sat down beside him, pulling out a rag iand some warm water from a bowl beside the bed. She bit her lip to hold back the angry retort, or the tears. Either would show what a coward she was. Looking the otter over with an expert eye, she frowned, and started washing all afflicted area's. She saw the otters side, and bit her lip harder. Oh no. This was gonna hurt. Preparing herself, and wetting the cloth, she faced Tritan. ** Sir, this is going to hurt.

Sorry, Tritan. **Aster swiped a jar of winter savory infusion off the shelf as she readied a new kit. The side wound was worrying her a great deal.** Here, Song, try some of this in the water -- it'll help the swelling to go away. **The mousemaiden turned to Tritan.** I'm going to make a painkiller for you. That wound will really hurt once the antiseptic is applied, and we don't want you thrashing around. Okay? **Without waiting for an answer, Aster turned and headed straight for the darkest drying rack, where she kept her datura root. The mousemaiden took up a sharp adze, and positioned it carefully in a natural groove of the whitish, rock-hard root. A couple of well-directed taps to the center was all it took to widen the crack, and Aster split the last stiff fibers off before placing the root back in its container. It was previously cleaned, so Aster had no qualms about placing it directly in the reed pot that was boiling over the fire. She took her time replacing the lid and checking that all was set, allowing the heat from the fire to lend her a much-needed burst of energy. Songwind was a capable healer; she simply needed experience, and Aster would let her take care of the infection first.**

OOC: 750th post! W00T!
*Tritan sighed at the words of the squirrelmaid. Of course it would. Medics had a very straightforward way of putting things. He braced himself, but nothing came.*
I'm going to make a painkiller for you. That wound will really hurt once the antiseptic is applied, and we don't want you thrashing around. Okay?
*He relaxed as he heard the Head Medic. Finally, someone with experience, he thought impolitely. What was she doing? Ah yes, she had used that root on his ear before. It had hurt quite a bit. That was going to hurt. He nodded and closed his eyes to try and relax. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in... ouch! Breathing in certainly didn't help his condition. Tritan watched Songwind, feeling sorry for her, but knowing she would get back at him with the painful decoction.*

**SOng nodded to Aster, and then took the jar. Spreading it onto her cloth, she took a deep breath. The squirrel maiden plunged the rag into the otter's infected side. She did this as gently as she could, though the pressure applied would surely have Tritan squirming. SHe sighed a little, and carefully cleaned the affected area.**Sorry...
