Tritan winced as Rose washed his ear. Medics were great. He hated broths and medicines and (shudder) needles, but he knew he wouldn't survive without them. Looking over to Shawn, he made a mental note to remember moss as a part of his crude survival kit. Blast! The kit! he had forgotten it aboard the ship! Oh well, what use is a kit when you have such good medics around? "Yeah, Aster, it's a deal. Yowch, go easy on the scrubbin', Rose!"

Sorry, but if you'll just hold still, I could clean it easier, some of these blood stains have dried on your skin itself, not to mention the rest of your fur around it... Nearly done.
**Rose scrubs the last of the dried blood off Tritan's fur before steping back.**
There you go, all done for now.

Tritan felt his ear and winced. It didn't hurt as much, and it was definitely cleaner. He chuckled to himself as he thought how lucky he was to be only wounded. The tribe of foxes that had attacked him had made their last mistake. He looked at his weapons, crusted with blood. It would take more than wiping on the grass to clean them. "'Ey, Rose, You kin clean me ear so well, could ye 'elp me wid my weapons?

Tritan was anticipating pain, but, true to the Medic's words, a sensation of cold spread through his ear and seem to slightly appease the agony. He still thought about the needle but found he was feeling quite numb in the ear. He relaxed and let Shawn do his work.

**Aster took the small peel out of the water, which was still warm. She watched the last tendrils of white spiral down into the liquid, then swirled the infusion around in the varnished wooden cup. Though she washed and sterilized it thoroughly after each use, the special cup for the datura infusion was beginning to take on a whitish patina around the inside of the hollow. Aster sighed, making a mental note to start working on making a second cup. She took it over to Tritan, handing the painkilling infusion to him.** Here, sip this slowly. It should make most of the pain go away in a little while. **She stood back, polishing the needle with a soft rag that she had dampened with a liberal amount of her most powerful antiseptics. She had already sterilized it in the flames, so it should not take much before the needle was ready to thread. Her paws had been scrubbed clean in the sterilizing antiseptic water, and she was wearing her special gloves. Aster watched the other medics work, noting how each one of them was using her or his own technique with the patient, but all gentle on the cut. A pleased smile had worked its way onto her face as she reached for the spool of mouse thread.**

*He then starts to put the rest on. When finished he grabs a warm wet rag.* "The rag will make the area feel great." *He lays it on Tritan's ear.* "The most importent thing for any creature's health is to trust the Medic who is healing you."
IRL: Got to go right now. (Bed time)

Tritan smiled gratefully. "Thanks mate-won't ferget it." He accepted the painkiller from Aster and took the cup to his lips. It tasted weird, but attenuated the pain even more than the sanicle. He took another sip and started feeling slightly drowsy. He watched Aster polish her needle with a rag and couldn't help but think that a piece of sharp metal would enter his body. Nah, he said to himself, it wouldn't hurt a bit.
Tritan watched Aster put on her gloves, and thought he had seen those before. Hmmm. Although this wasn't much of a time for thinking, because another sip of the datura solution seemed to blur his senses even more. He rearranged the warm rag on his ear to a more comfortable position. Being a seabeast was great and all, but he only knew the fundamental cures. He took another sip of the medicine and stopped thinking for a moment an concentrated on Aster.

Tritan drained the last of his medicine. He was feeling decidedly sleepy. He listened to Shawn and Rose’s conversation, but thought it was too hard to keep up. Tritan knew not to fight the effects of painkillers, so he laid back, watching Shawn disappear from the tent. Rose’s face seemed to blur before him as he slipped into slumber. The cup dropped from his hand and smashed on the floor.

**Sighing at the condition of the cup, Aster shook her head. She quickly threaded the needle, checking to make sure that the mouse thread had not caught or frayed anywhere, then cut off a short length of thread as well as another long one. The river mousemaid stepped up, speaking to Rose.** Rose, can you and Shawn put the moss on his wound after I finish stitching up his ear? It'd work better that way.
**Turning back to Tritan, she took his ear gently in her left paw. Stitching up this wound would be trickier than usual. She estimated that she would first have to repair one of the vessels in the ear. The river mousemaid quickly matched up the ear back into its original position, then lightly teased off the scab that was beginning to form. The otter would have a nasty scar for some time, but he wouldn't die of blood loss. As the blood began to flow once again, Aster quickly sewed up the inside with three medium stitches. She checked her work, then turned her attention to the outside of his ear. Seeing as to its current condition, it would simply be a matter of light cosmetic work.**
**Aster finished the short length of thread with a tiny end-knot, then calculated the best way to stitch up his ear as she threaded her instrument again with the long thread and re-sterilized it. She jabbed the tip of the small, thin needle in, working with light overhand stitches. Once finished, the river mouse tied off a half-hitch in back of his ear, where it would not be as noticeable, then turned to Rose.** Just dab it lightly around the outside. We don't want it coming in contact with the inside of the wound; otherwise, his blood supply to that ear could be damaged and it'll have to go. **She stood back. From the short time that Tritan had been there, she was almost certain that the nerve endings would grow back and he would regain use of the ear, as long as he didn't get it injured again within the next four weeks.**

*Walking back inside he walks over to Rose while wiping some water from his fur. He took a bit of Moss from the jar.* " Elena, could you help me put the Moss on the the cuts?"
