ACHOO!!!
**Horus sneezed. The dust had built up inside the abandoned forge, and Horus had stired it all up just by opening the door.**
No wonder it's dusty... I'm the first one to enter this building in months... Good job Darter gave me the key... I'd better get this place cleaned up... Can't work in a dirty environment... Might contaminate the iron or the steel.
**Clean up the place Horus had said, so clean it up he did. First to go was the dust, then he cleaned up the surfaces. That done, he applyed his skills to makeing a sign. It read; "Horus's Hammer and Anvil. Quality weapons and armour at a steal in price." After hanging the painted sign of a crossed hammer and anvil on a spike set outside the door. Turning back to his new, and newly cleaned forge, Horus remarked to nobeast in particular.**
Earth, fire, and air... All of these things have come together to make this place a reality... Let beasts come... I am ready for them...
**It was with those words that Horus Luc Lupercal turned asign on the door from "Closed" to "Open".**

**Song wandered in, her big eyes gleaming with exitment and mischeif. running a paw over her brush, she smiled at Horus. The pretty young Mrs. looked around secretly before sharing her information with the Blacksmith wolf.** It's Brawn's birthday soon, and I wanna give 'im somat special. I was t'inking of a new lance, p'rahaps decerated.
** The spunky squirrel giggled noisely and pointed to a peice of dark cherry wood on the wall.** Coul' you add the point t' dat?

With ease lass... With ease... I'll get it done ASAP. Oh, and do you want it boxed or wraped in any way?
**Horus lifted the piece of cherry wood from being against the wall, and began to mark out the length, width, and the majorly important details.**
What kind of tip do you want for the lance?

**Songwind giggled, her high laughter ringing in the halls of the formerly abandoned forge. She put a paw to her chin thoughtfully, and then smiled.** I'd like a partisan tip of cobalt and steel. How can I pay you?
OOC: I know, Songwind smiles ALOT. Actually, my friends call me "Ms. Sunshine"

Good choice... I like the narrow, crescent and spear tip style blade myself.
**Thinking hard for a moment he reached a puzzle.**
That's a tougth one lass... One with no easy answer... Perhaps one of use will have thought of something by the time I'm done.
**Looking at his measurements, Horus set the wood in a vice, with two pieces of bark either side of the dark pice of holly. A saw sat on the bench, it's teeth sharp and freshly-ground into the steel blade. Cutting the scraggly and feathery ends off the wooden pole, Horus began to sand the ends smooth.**
This job could take a while, you might want to take a walk for a few hours. Okey?

I'll let you know when it's ready.
**Picking up two bars of metal, one the blue of cobalt, the other the grey of steel, Horus placed them in the forge to warm up. Placeing a paw on the bellows, he began pumping them to heat up the metal quicker. Holding a paw over his face to shield his face from the back-wash of heat kicked up from the bellows being pumped, the timber wolf dragged the bars out in his tongs to the anvil where his hammer lay.**
*Bang! Boom! Crash! Tinkle!*
Oops... I'll have to get that window fixed... And retreve my hammer... But for the mean time, I'll use my good hammer.
**Placeing the cooled bar of metal alloy made from the two he had beaten together back in the forge, Horus began designing the partisan blade. Once that was done, he checked the bar. It was ready to be worked with. Grasping the hammer at his belt, he took the red hot metal bar to the anvil so he could beat the rough shape of the spear into it. Working quickly, the wolf made the crescent at the base of the partisan blade. Sticking the un-shaped end into the heat for a few minutes, Horus dragged it back out to shape the spear blade that sat astride the crescent blade. That was soon formed, and the blade tip quenched in the water tank.**
Let's see... I need to make the attachment holes so it can fit to the cherry wood haft.
**Coating the bottom of the crescent with a brown dye made from berrys, Horus marked a "X" where he would drill down, and two "X"'s on each side of the crescent for the pins. Setting the weapon in the vice, a drill emerged from the tool cubard. Setting the tip to the bottom of the crescent, he turned the crank and imediatly felt the tip bite the metal. Fully half of the small, wide drill bit went into metal before Horus was satisfied. The same thing happened on the sides of the half-moon of metal, only with a long thin dril bit that snapped after the second hole was drilled to the other side.**
Blast it! Those things aren't cheap.
**Ignoring the shallow cut on his arm from a shard of metal from the broken drill bit, he tried fitting the haft into the large hole he had drilled. It was a good fit, if a little tight. Finding another bit for his drill, Horus began drilling the holes in the wood for the pins to go through.**
I'll soon have this finished up. Then I'll have another puzzle...
**The pins were really just a pair of rivits; one to each hole with each end flattened to stop them falling out or the wood shifting. THEN came the step of cleaning up the rough edges and replaceing the hammered cutting edges with fresh, sharp ones. A file and a soft cloth were the order of the day for that task. Working tirelessly, disregarding all the cuts from the where the file slipped or stuck, the wolf admired the weapon like a father admireing his baby son.**
Only two things to add before it's finished...
**Heading up an odd-shaped brand in the embers, Horus pressed it against the spear blade of the partisan. Removing it, a black mark could be seen; a triangle with lines comming away from it diagonally at regular intervals. It was his mark, a Wolf's Howl on a mountain. The second thing he added was a brown ribbon tied just under the blade of the new weapon. Setting it on a small rack in a box, Horus placed a lid over it and tied it with ribbons. Placeing the box on the counter, he went back to his chair for a well-earned rest before Song returned.**

**Song walked in quietly, smiling at Horus' sleeping form. She held a bundle of brown under her arm as she smuggled herself in. Pulling a slip of parchment, and a charcol stick from her skirt pocket, she wrote a quick note as she grabbed the blade. **
Thank Horus, I'm taking the spear and its perfect! I bought some beautiful strong wood in the market and left it as payment. I'll see you later.
~Songwind Oakbrush
**Giggling softly, she snuck out, leving the note and wood on the table. Now that she thought of it, she needed to get her dagger fixed...**

*Snort.* Huh? Wha? Oh... Probably nothing... Wait... That wood wasn't there before...
**Horus walked over to the pile and spoted the note.**
Well now, she was really thoughful with that wood.

Yup. I repair old blades, and even jewelary.
**Horus gave the blade a quick once over.**
I may have to replace the damaged parts of the blade... Is it steel? I can't quite tell amidst the dust in here.
