*The archery fields consist of a long, open field surrounded by trees. The archers or slingers stand at one end, while five targets are situated at various distances and points at the other end. Slingers and archers of all species are free to practice their arts here, so long as nobeast gets hurt!* OOC: You can practice your archery here. Slingers are welcome as well. Try not to hit anybeast, though!

* Mary walks down to the archery fields, having just recieved the directions to get there. Her spirits were high, as she had just gotten there and hadn't been caught by her older sibling yet. She unslung her bow from her back, and got out an arrow from a quiver that was tilted to the right, going from her right shoulder to the bottom of her ribs on the left. * The young mousemaid looked around and saw that nobody was there yet. That was good, becaue that meant she didnt' have to share a target. She picked the one farthest to the left and got out an arrow. She notched it to her bowstring took aim. She let go, and the arrow was one ring off the center.* Nuts, So this is what comes of no practice for a while.

*Rowan is strolling along, after his meeting with Marie, when he sees the Archery field. Gripping his yew bow in his right paw, he fingers his raven fletched arrows in the quiver strapped to his back. Rowan sees Elena, so he picks the target in the center of the field. Drawing one of the raven fletched arrows from the quiver on his back, he notches it to his bow, and takes aim. The sun is setting, casting a cream colored shadow over the field. he pulls the waxed string back, and with the bow taut, he releases the arrow.*
*It strikes the target just off the center, and Rowan shrugggs. That was still a pretty good shot in his eyes. Taking another arrow from the quiver, he cotches it to his yew bow.* Well, that was pretty good. I still could of done better.

OOC: Not Elena! Mary! Elena can't shoot for a pigeon feather!*coughs.* Though, that's not your fault for mistaking. BIc: * Mary looked over to Rowan and waved.* Hi! It's nice to see another beast here. I thought I would be by myself for a while.* She pulled another arrow from her quiver and notched it to her bowstring.*

OOC Sorry about that. *Mutters.* That's the second time I have mistaken two characters.
BIC *Rowan smiles, and waves over to Mary.* Hey! It's nice to see you here too. I figured I should check up on my archery ability, but I am more of a swordsman. *Rowan pulls the bowstring back until the whole bow is drawn back taut, and then he takes aim. Releasing the arrow, it flies though the air, and misses the target all in all.* Shoot! That was one horrible shot. Well, practice makes perfect.

OOC; S'okay. It's not that bad. What would be worse if you called me by my name on another site. THat's just weird. BIC:Well if your more of a swordsman, shouldn't you be at the sparring arena?* Mary asked. She wasnt' really a good swordsbeast, and believed that whoever was should be practicing to make themseleves better at it.* I'm horrible at it.* She drew back on her bowstring and let go. The arrow sailed through the air,and it the center of the target!* Haha! There we go!

I would, but it seemed sort of crowded, so I decided to brush up on my archery. *Draws another raven fletched arrow from his quiver, and notches it to his bow. Pulling the waxed bowstring back, he takes aim, looking at the target at the end of the field. Rowan releases the arrow, and he finally hits the target in the center.*

* Mary nods, and fires off another arrow. One didnt' really see her put it there, but sometimes she moved so fast that you could hardly tell. THE arrow flew, and landed with a soft thunk on the wooden center of the target, right next to her first arrow.*

*Rowan smiles, and then fires an arrow down the range. It strikes dead center, splitting the arrow already there in two. He nods, and walks over to Mary.* Well, I am off to the sparring grounds, Mary. See ya. *He starts walking away.*

* Mary gazed in awe at Rowan. Splitting an arrow, well, now she has something to work for.* Right. Bye. See you again soon.

*A white-furred lemming, with a passably annoyed and confused look on his face, walked into the Archery fields, bearing no range weapon whatsoever. He gazed quizzically around, eyes roving across the field to achieve some kind of recognition, for he was new in Division 1.*
This be d'Archery fields?
*Suddenly spotting the targets scattered around, he decided that it was. Pulling a stiletto out of each of the leather boots he was wearing, he stretched his wrists, then bent down on one knee and started reciting a prayer. He got up and threw a stiletto almost haphazardly. The knife buried its point in the post that held the target up. Not at all mad at having missed the target, he flung the other knife with a skilled technique which appeared to have been practiced many times, which struck right next to the fist one. Silently cursing, he went to retrieve the stilettos. *
You're Mary, are not ye?

* Mary looked up from her concentrated aiming. Her bowstring was pulled back, but she suddenly let go and the arrow flew and hit the outside ring of the target. She looked at the lemming, and answered.* Yeah, I'm Mary. Who are you? I've never seen you here before.

*Yggdrasil tugged out his knives and Mary's arrow and walked back to his original position.*
Yggdrasil's parents name him so.
*He handed the arrow to Mary with a smile, something he seldom did.*

* Mary smiled back.* Thanks.* She put her arrows back in to her quiver, except for one. SHe couldnt' help but comment on Yggdrasil's name as she shot another arrow.* Yggdrasil's pretty long, can I call you drasil instead? Its' a lot easier to say.

*The lemming appreciated the kindness of the mouse toward him. Not everybeast was so kind where he came from. He whipped both knives at the target, each hitting the outermost circle at the farthest point. They now marked the diameter of the target.* Sure, you call Yggdrasil whatever ye'll wanna.
