**Attica narrowed her eyes at the wolf. After the hard stare, however, the otter relaxed momentarily as the friendly voice drifted to her ears in the slight breeze. Bounding next to Horus, the ottermaid smiled briefly.** Sure! **Striding calmly to take her place next to the cat, Attica smiled at her opponent. Inside, though, she could not suppress a shudder of both excitement and fear. Attica had never truly fought a feline opponent before, and this, she supposed, was a good chance to practice her fighting skills. Olive green eyes flickering, the otter scanned Nadia's position to take in the details.**

OOC: How about we spar in brown?
BIC: *Nadia waved to Horus as he stauntered off, then turned to face the ottermaid. Nodding with a friendly smile, she introduced herself.*
I'm Nadia, but then Horus already told you that. Give me just a sec here. What's your name?
*Nadia stuck the short sword she had been fighting with into the sand and slowly stretched out her muscles, one leg at a time. She took a step over to the weapon racks, plunging her paws into a bucket of water and splashing in over her face, taking a small sip as she did so. Patting her paws and face dry with a towel, Nadia looked at the otter. Good, she looks as if she's fought for real before.
Nadia ran the list of the otter's weapons through her head: curved sword, sling and stone, and a javelin. It seemed as if she wanted to fight heavily armed today. Normally, Nadia liked to use just her short sword. But, her blod was thrumming from the spar with Horus. All her lathargic feelings that a warm day usually brought about were gone. Why not? Looking over the racks of wooden weapons to pick from, the cat made her choice. Her paw picked up the wooden replica of a weapon she had been practicing with in private for some time now. If the weapon had been the real thing, it would have been a chain with a single metal ball attached on each end, capable of crushing an enemy's skull. However, for sparring, it was a lighter chain with wooden balls on the end. Nadia swished it a little as it dangled from her paw. It still had the same balance, but the wood could only give bruises.
Returning to the sparring ring, the cat scooped up a pawful of sand, rubbing it on her paws. Her sleeve-less shirt showed her sleek fur, now glistening in the sun. Her bare footpaws swished the sandy floor of the arena as she flexed them. Her right paw held the straight but broad short sword while the left held the weapon she had just chosen. She gestured towards the otter.*
How about you make the first move for now?

**Attica smiled warmly at her opponent.** I'm Attica Sakantail. Nadia, eh? Nice name! **The ottermaid spun around in excitement. Sleek dark brown fur shone dimly with the sunlight, the green dress matching the olive green eyes sparkling with happiness and the eagerness to do battle. Setting a paw on the leather-bound hilt of her curved wooden sword, the ottermaid revelled in the warm sunlight. Attica's keen eyes soon spotted the dangerous new weapon Nadia had picked. Interesting choice. The otter instantly inspected the sturdy chain, with three wooden balls. Upon seeing the wooden balls, Attica's paw instinctively shot to her lances. Well, looks like my javelins could be cracked with those. She twirled her sling once, checking the pebble inside was big and heavy, before stomping a paw in the sand, raising a cloud of dust. Some sand went into her nostrils, causing her to sneeze. Well, she thought, at least it could be used for some reason in battle. Attica closed her eyes as all the skills she had learned all these seasons flooded into her mind. As she opened them, the golden pawring set with the sparkling sapphire glittered briefly. It was Attica's only reminder of her dead mother and father, and her most treasured possesion. A single tear fell, wetting the ornament. Turning her head away, Attica swiftly looked up as Nadia's voice sounded out. The ottermaid was genuinely surprised that her opponent was ready that soon. Sword in right paw, sling in the other, javelins o'er her back; what more could Attica want but a good fight to use them. A steely glint came into her eyes, and she closed in.
The otter swung her curved sword at Nadia's midsection and whirled the sling so it hopefully would thwack the cat's right shoulder. As she did this, though, Attica knew Nadia could easily defend both, so she raised her right knee and aimed a kick at the cat's right hip.**

OOC: Sorry it took me longer than usual to reply.
BIC: Attica, huh? *Nadia liked the sound of the name. Although the hard sound of it didn't seem to fit the graceful ottermaid in front of her. As Attica started her attack, Nadia liked the sparkle in her eyes. She appreciated the grace that the otter moved with.
In her experience, there were two types of way to approach single combat. There was the hack-and-slash where one would try to wear down the opponent with ferocity and power. Then, there was the method that treated combat almost as a dance where each move was calculated and precise. Nadia preferred the latter version and she could see the otter did to. The movements were smooth yet powerful, not jerky or exaggerated.
Unlike the fight with Horus, where her movement was meant to get her out of the way of his powerful swings, she focused on deflecting and retaliating against Attica. Here was a chance for what the cat considered the best way to train. That is, fighting an opponent, each trying to see how long they could deflect the other's attacks.
Nadia slid back a half step and a little to her left, her right paw swishing down with a hollow thunk as the two swords struck each other. The loaded sling swung through empty air where her right shoulder had been. Her left paw swung down, holding the balls on the chain. Instead of hitting the otter's kicking foot or leg with the weapon, she blocked it with a downward motion of her wrist, just enough the deflect it to the side.
Her left paw then moved up, swinging the weapon in it towards Attica's chin. Her right paw with the blade, having done its job, sliced out and below the wooden balls, ready to turn direction at any moment depending on how Attica responded with her sword.*

OOC: Sorry, I cannae login on diss computer.
EWWWWW! Worst postie ever!
BIC: Inside, Attica swung her sword in frusturation. Both attacks had missed. But then, the otter reflected, they were too easy, Gritting her teeth in the effort, she watched, as if in slow motion, Nadia defend both sword and kick, and dodge the sling. Keeping grace and agility in mind, the ottermaid waited for a split second as the balls whirred toward her, and then stepped back half a step and ducked under the weapon. Upon rising, there was no time to think as her opponent's sword hurdled through air toward the top of her head. Acting on her instincts, she speedily swung her sword so it hit Nadia's weapon with another thunk. The weapon shivered under the impact, and the otter reeled briefly. After the tense moment, Attica had to breathe a sigh of relief. She had escaped unharmed this time. Her eyes roved into focus as she watched the cat for any signs of defense. Skipping swiftly forward, she stomped once, before ducking under any weapons swinging her way. Hopefully, Nadia would be blinded by the rising tide of dust and sand. Taking advantage of the moment, the otter sighted the dim shape of the cat and charged forward. It was a foolish move, she knew, but it might make it. Aiming her sword forward, she advanced speedily, ready to sidestep with her opponent. The sling swung in a blur about her head, before it directed forward to. Ready for a counterattack, Attica bravely pounded forward.
