OOC: did you mean to say grabbed the sword blade? I'm going to reply as if you did.
BIC: *The wolf was quick. Quick enough to grab her sword blade. Nadia tried not to snigger.
Eh, Horus, you're paw is kinda officially sliced open really bad if that were a real blade you were grabbing. Don't do anything you wouldn't do in a real battle.
*She saw something from the corner of her eye and ducked. Wham. The wolf's elbow struck the side of her head instead of her snout. She staggered slightly, flailing out a paw with claws outstretched. It found Horus's hammer handle and she held on, trying not to fall or trip from dizziness. Her green eyes took in the situation. They were both holding on to the other's weapon. However, her claws were sunk deep into the hammer's handle. Suddenly, Nadia switched all of her weight to hanging off of Horus' weapon.*

OOC: Yes, he did. Oh, and it's a hammer, not a mace.
BIC: I know, but from all the years I've cut myself forging metal weaons, I've gained a tougth skin so to say.
**Tossing Nadia's sword to the side, Horus half-crouched and held his paws up in an un-armed fighting style.**

*Nadia's whiskers twitched skeptically at Horus' statement about his paws.*
If you say so, I'm not gonna test it out.
*She smiled at the wolf. Now they were both weapon-less. It didn't matter. She could fight paw-to-paw as well. Noting the wolf crouch, Nadia adjust her distance from him so that she could attack, but still back off in time to hopefully not get hit. Although, it will be more challenging since he's taller than me. But then again, the more challenge, the merrier. Nadia's paws were also up now, one protecing her face, the other lower to protect her torso. She turned slightly, knees bent, presenting a smaller target. Nadia did not clench her paws into fists. Instead, she loosely curled then, ready to strike out in a punch, with her claws, or the hard edge of her paw. As soon as Horus' head was at a reasonable height, she turned, snapping out a hard roundhouse kick with her right leg. It was aimed at his throat.*

**Although he hadn't been expecting the kick, Horus reacteted quite swiftly. Letting the kick strike his right shoulder as he swayed to the side, Horus grabed Nadia's leg with both paws before it could slide off his shoulder.**
Nice kick. Shame I have to counter it though...
**From the hold he had, the timber wolf, tried to throw Nadia as hard as he could over his shoulder.**
OOC: It's just hard to have a hook-action throw in a spar, so the tried to throw is the equivalent of your kick.

*As soon as Horus grabbed her footpaw, Nadia knew she was in for one very hard fall.*
Now, now. Don't expect me to go down without a fight.
*Even as she was starting to fly over the wolf's shoulder, Nadia dug her foot claws deep into his shoulder. Whump. The cat hit the ground, her paw scrabbeling for anything that might help her. She was too winded to roll over and jump up. *
Ah-ha! Yes.
*This exclamation was shouted as Nadia's paw found her sword that Horus had discarded. She held it point up in both paws, still down on the sand, as she waited.*
C'mon Horus.

Ah! That hurts.
**Figuring out that Nadia had recovered her blade, the timber wolf took up his hammer once more. Stepping forwards a few paces, he swung the oaken hammer in a sledgehammer blow at Nadia's arm. Not knowing or caring if it hit, or the damage it could possablely do do the cat he faced, Horus didn't relent in the power or speed of his attack.**
Dodge this pretty miss!

*Still on her back, Nadia saw Horus' hammer whooshing down. She squiggled to the side, swinging the sword with both paws as hard as she could. Thunk. The hammer hit the sand, right next to her face. She twitched her whiskers.*
I think I may have a few shorter whiskers now.
*Nadia blinked, trying to clear the sand from her eyes that the hammer had sprayed up into them.*
Nice job, Horus. Give me a paw up? Let me get the sand out of my eyes and we can start again.

Sure.
**Horus held out his right paw for Nadia to grab.**

*Nadia grabbed the wolf's paw and hauled herself up. She stepped back and shook the irritating sand out of her fur, blinking her green eyes several times. She stretched her back out, relieving it from the hard fall. She shifted her grip on the sword. Now it was held point downwards in her right paw. She swished it several times in front of her. Right. Left. Then right again. Her left paw finished dusting her fur off as she stood ready.*
Ok, Horus. Your turn.

Okey. No holds barred?
**Holding the long hafted hammer in both paws, Horus swung the weapon a few times as he thought about the move he was going to do. Without warning, the timber wolf swung the hammer swiftly at Nadia's stomach.**

*Nadia formulated a plan as Horus swung his hammer a few times before launching his attack. She waited until the last possible minute as the powerful blow swished towards her stomach. She dropped to the sand, rolling one and coming up at the wolf's side. She sprang to her paws, executing the move with all the quickness and sureness inherent to her species.*
No holds barred, eh?
*Nadia gripped the sword in both paws, using the momentum of her roll and the muscles in her arms and back, unwinding like a spring as she sent the wooden weapon whistling, blade edge horizontal, towards Horus' ribcage. She stepped in, making sure he couldn't run away easily. No more talk about tough paws for this blow. It was powerful enough that if he tried to grab it, it would break his fingers.*

**Knowing he couldn't dodge the blow or intercept it with his paws, Horus did the next best thing; He turned to face the blow while staying behind his hammer, now planted on arena floor. The sword struck the thick oak handle hard, forcing it into the wolf's ribs. Suddenly, the world felt like it was going dim, and the wolf couldn't breath... The pain was that intense, and didn't pass for about a minute, by which time, Horus was gasping for breath.**
That was a bit low, winding me like that... Why, you could'a cracked a rib there.
**Suddenly, Horus broke into a smile, and almost began laughing, had it not have been for the dull ache in his side.**

*Nadia quickly removed her sword from the hammer's handle as soon as she saw the effect her blow had. She backed off a step, waiting for the wolf to recover, but not totally letting down her guard.*
Eh, no more dangerous than your hammer to my head.
*Nadia noticed his smile.*
What's funny?

**A tall, willowy otter walked into the sparring arena. Attica was eager for a spar, and the longsword, javelin, and sling expert was in a good mood. Sighting Nadia and Horus sparring ahead, the otter was no less anxious to begin. She unslung her pack from her back. Attica seized her longsword eagerly. The steel blade was rather worn, but its lethal edges were no less dangerous than when it was first forged. A sparkling sapphire glimmered in the leather-bound, gold hilt, a welcome addition to the already beautiful sword's design. Attica strapped it to her black belt, its silver sheath carved with flowery patterns. However, the ottermaid sighed deeply, as she couldn't use the weapon. Searching in her bag, Atta took out a sharp wooden sword, its curved blade as sharp as the steel weapon. Pawing the flat wooden blade, Atta stuck it into the ground next to her. Next, the otter lifted an old sling and twirled it. No need for more than one pebble, it was a spar after all. Attica sifted through the pebble pouch for the perfect slingstone. Aha! She carefully set a large, round pebble in the sling. The otter would normally leave the weapons then, but in this carefree mood, Attica had to grab a long, sharp javelin. Not too sharp, would you mind. The otter muttered to herself. Looking up, she slung the black weapons over her back. Humming a tune, the otter waited for an opponent to arrive. The sun shone bright overhead, and Attica wiped a bead of sweat trickling down her face with the hem of her green dress.

OOC: Attica, you can't use real weapons here, they've got to be wooden.
BIC: Never mind Nadia... You wouldn't get it...
**Shaking his head slowly, the wolf once more hefted his hammer, but began to walk away.**
Well, I'm bushed. Hey miss! Do you want to contimue my spar against Nadia?
**Horus had noticed Attica enter the arnea, and she had given him the perfect excuse to quit the spar for a short while... Sure he was a wolf, but even wolves needed to get off their paws every now and again.
