Chairs are lined up in the Mess Hall of the Fort, a promontory jutting out next to the Guardians' Tavern. All Guardians, including those who work on the new flagship, Sojourner, are invited to come and receive awards promotions, and recognition they have earned. Only War Commander Rinafera stands on the stage, with two tables in front of him; one the table is adorned by intricate medals and awards, while the other is covered in badges and medals that symbolize officer positions.
OOC: Come one, come all. This is the very first award ceremony under my reign as War Commander.

Brisk gave a yawn as he made his way into the building. Honestly, he didn't care too much for 'awards', so much as he did 'rewards'. Awards were simple recognition, sometimes even given to pathetic beasts not deserving it, and rewards, well, they usually were things of actual value, such as money.
Smirking to himself, he grabbed himself a seat and waited for the other guardians to arrive. He gazed at Rina' with half open, unamused eyes. The lynx gave another yawn and leaned back in his chair, stretching slightly, before returning to a subtle position. After doing so, he crossed his arms, and waited, patiently.
First one here. Doesn't surprise me. Beasts here are rather pathetic and insolent. How hard is it to show up somewhere on time anyway? Pathetic. He thought, mentally rolling his eyes. Giving a sigh, he glanced back at the doorway, then to Rina'. This wasn't really a job, so his patience was easily worn....

Shard whistled a random, merry tune as he made his way through the front door of the Mess Hall, paws-in-pockets and a gittern, a small lute-like instrument, strapped to his back. He paused for a quick glance around. The place was nearly empty, having only Rina and another whose name just wouldn't come to mind. He shrugged off his instrument and continued to a seat, choosing one near the center.
His gaze turned from the table of badges and medals, to Rina, to Brisk. To both, he half-laughed and asked, "I'm not early again, am I?" Ah, well, he thought, at least I won't be bored. He brushed the strings of his gittern, producing a shimmering, beautifully in-tune minor chord, then continued the melody he was whistling on his way in.

The Mess Hall had been slightly fixed up for the grand occasion. Also, the pair of foxes - it seemed they were the only two foxes to make a presence known - had fixed themselves up a bit. Between them, they had patched up their clothing that had been torn and ragged over the long time they spent doing nothing but repairs. They had enough skill in their put together paws to work up and nice repair on their clothing, feeling that being near other besides themselves was reason enough to celebrate.
The vixen's coat, extremely white due to the time of year, was washed to a sheen not seen for a very long time, and her dress - blue with silver stitching and a lavender belt - was near flawlessly fixed. As she walked into the Mess Hall, she even wore a smile beside the heavy weight of now being Lt. Rosepaw on her shoulders. Right behind her, Rikian smiled as well, his eyes bright blue-green orbs gleaming, his pelt also cleaned. His red and gold shirt was ofset by repaired black canvas breeches, and the X-shaped scar on his cheek gave him a daring look, which looked handsome on his features.
Crystal smiled widely up at Rinafera, and nodded politely to Shard. She pondered over Brisk for a tiny second, before smiling and nodding to him as well. She hide her annoyance at his apathetic state easily. Rikian seated himself, a good distance from Brisk, actually, after doing his own waving and nodding.
The vixen hopped up on the stage near Rinafera, and spoke quietly, "Haven't been to one of these since I was little more than a child, Rina."

Brisk being apathetic was an average thing alright. He had his reasons though. He would always have his reasons as well, unless some miracle happened. The handsome lynx was a loner by title, and for good reasons. His entire life was sheltered in the sense that all that mattered was his job. The finer things in life, he had no knowledge of, or if he did start feeling for anyone, he wouldn't know what it was. It was a sad thing to be brought up, believing all that mattered, was your success, and money.
He glanced at each member as they came in, and only responded with a brief flick of his hand up, symbolizing as a quick wave. He gave another sigh, and closed his eyes, once again waiting for everything to begin. Well, its about time I suppose. He thought quietly, before opening his eyes. Crystal was on the stage with Rina whispering. His cold orbs looked her up and down, and mentally he gave a smile before closing his eyes once more.

"If you are late, then you will still receive your awards on your arrival. First, we'll begin with the awards and medals. Please come to the stage if your name is called. Tass, Yasmine, Shard, Horus, and Raiden." The hare beckoned them on stage, staring down the audience from the stage with pride.

At the lack of her name being said, Crystal quickly hopped off the stage, her right leg giving a small mental yap of protest. The vixen, silently still wearing her gracious smile, darted over to where Rikian was sitting and palced herself in a chair next to him. Tass... The person that had accused her of being fake when she had spoken to Rinafera. Yasmine she did not know; the name stuck to being an Abbey creature, though, maybe a shrew or mouse. Shard, Horus... They were other creatures she knew from the days long ago when the fortress was grand and well in it's running. Ah, then Raiden... Crystal wans't suprised. She knew that the mouse had to be given some badge of honor.

The steady padding of his footpaws and the slight rasp in his throat were all that Teylan could hear as he ran for the mess hall. That, of course, and the birds. But he hardly noticed them now, all thoughts either focused on running or just wandering aimlessly through his mind. He stumbled as he hit a stone on the dirt path, and hissed through his teeth; he seemed to be tripping more than usual. It doesn't matter now, anyways, he thought. Here's the Hall... He skidded up to the solid oaken door, panting slightly, and opened it. Teylan slunk in, cringing at the stares he collected from a few of the audience. Why didn't he get up earlier? It was bad enough that he wasn't going to get any award, but by being late he might call attention to himself. Teylan padded up to a center row, trying to be inconspicuous and succeeding only slightly. He grinned apologetically to the few beasts in the row and slid into a seat, still breathing slightly heavily.

Tass slid out of his seat when he heard his name called, Nathan was sick from the Sojourners small maiden voyage the night before, so Tass was the only one of the duo there. Tass walked up to the stage and stepped onto it, the squirrel wondered what kind of award he would get.

OOC: Yeah, I'm late.
Yasmine barely walked through the door when she heard her name called.
"...Please come to the stage if your name is called. Tass, Yasmine, Shard, Horus, and Raiden."
Yasmine blinked, slightly startled. She heard this was an award ceremony and figured she had to be present, but what was the deal with getting her name called. She couldn't possibly be getting an award. She didn't even remember doing anything of importance. This was everything going through Yasmine's head right now and she wasn't fond of being confused. Hesitantly she strode up on the stage in front of the crowd waiting anxiously in the room, feeling slightly suspicious to the event. Naturally, her conscience stepped in and kicked her (mentally, of course).
'Now, now, this is an award ceremony. What could possibly go wrong at an award ceremony?'
Yasmine shooed her annoying conscience away and stood, waiting curiously.

"I heard my name..."
Standing off to one side had been the mouse in question, Raiden. The mouse had preferred to keep himself distant from everyone out of personal choice, he'd been too emotionally attached to beasts before and losing them had hurt him badly. These days the mouse wore less armour, mostly just for his right arm if at all... He had been considering retiring from his life of the sword, but he just couldn't. There was something keeping the mouse in his role as a warrior... He'd cut off all ties to his past, rid himself of his oaths to his clan and started to live his own life.
"Seems like I must have done something right this time..."
Throwing the long braid that was his chestnut brown headfur back over his shoulder, he stood up from the wall he had been leaning up against. Clad in a plain red tunic and black trousers, the warrior took deliberate steps in black-booted footpaws. Slung over one shoulder was a long black coat, the mouse seeming too lazy to put it on any further than draping it over his shoulder. To have called the mouse slovenly would be nowhere near accurate, he was far more active than his distant attitude suggested... He just had a way of seeming like he was indifferent to the world... The lazy paw on the hilt of the basket-hilted broadsword at his hip was a bit of a give-away to his sharp, yet easy nature. From under a mess of a fringe, a pair of blue-grey eyes peered out, his true nature as a stoic and loyal warrior was mixed in with his free-spirited, but calm and controlled nature. Stopping on the stage, he gave Rina a lazy, yet friendly grin. To Crystal, he gave a polite nod and smile... His relations with the vixen were strained at best these days, so the mouse had decided to keep things friendly and formal with his former friend... Maybe one of these days she would forgive him, but that didn't seem too likely right now.

Shard greeted each attendee with a smile and the occasional nod as they entered: Crystal, Rikian, Teylan, Tass, Yasmine, and a newcomer whom he didn't recognize. The instant Rina began to speak, he silenced his musical instrument and slung it over his shoulder, onto his back.
"... Tass, Yasmine, Shard, Horus, and Raiden."
Shard stood when the War Commander finished speaking and slowly paced to the stage, smiling. Upon reaching it, he showed his lesser-seen serious side; the squirrel Major stood straight and saluted his superior, a smile still hovering about his face as he greeted him, "Major Prime, sah; I'm honored to be here."

"Major Shard Prime, please step forward. For demonstration exemplary tactics, strategy, and commanding ability, I, on behalf of the Guardians and your fellow officers, award you the Silver Star." Rinafera pins the award on the left side of his chest on the uniform.
"Tass, please step forward. For a high level of activity, I, on behalf of the Guardians and the other officers, award you the White Star." Rinafera pins it his chest and contunues.
"Yasmine, please step forward. For your loyalty and bravery, I, on behalf of the Guardians and the other officers, award you the Blue Star." The hare pins it to her uniform and continues.
"Horus, please step forward. For prowess in blacksmithing, I, on behalf of the Guardians and the other officers, award you the Bronze Anvil." He pins it to his uniform and moves on.
"Captain Raiden Silversword, please step forward. For prowess in battle, I, on behalf of the Guardians and your fellow officers, award you the Bronze Tiger." He pins it to Raiden's chest and beckons them all to leave the stage.
"Now, for the promotions. Please step on the stage if your name is called. Shard Prime, Raiden Silversword, Crystal Rosepaw, Scratchfur, and Brisk."

Brisk, as usual had his odd cold version of calmness and lack of amusement showing. His half open silver blue eyes watched the stage, and every word Rina' said went in one ear and out the other. Once again, these were 'awards' not, 'rewards'.
The promotion would be nice simply because it gave him a tiny bit more authority and reach than just what he could say to his underling rogues, but still, once again, it wasn't anything he was too 'wowed' about because where he originally came from, he was basically royalty.
Upon hearing his name, he shrugged and made his way toward the stage. Hmm, well, whatever. The hybrid thought, giving a yawn as he approached Rinafera. He gave a nod to him on the stage, and a loose salute. As much as it didn't seem like it, Brisk did respect his commander.
