Adoni Alnson sat at the dinner table with his family. He was a young squirrel, nice brown fur, not very tall, but very strong for his age. He was four, so he was not totally full-grown yet. He liked to play with his older brother and sister, his baby sister Nubby always trying to play with them. She was a fat baby, had two huge eyes and extremely soft brown and reddish fur. Adoni looked at his food, corn bread, carrots, nuts, and acorns all wrapped in a big wheat tortilla.
“Yummy. My favorite, a squirrel super wrap! But not made with squirrels, but by squirrels. Mum, you’re a genius!” He said to his mother. She was a small lady squirrel, not very good in the fields, which her husband and two sons attended to mainly. But she was an excellent cook, she taught Ammerlyn, the oldest daughter, everything she knew about cooking. Ammerlyn was a very kind young squirrel; she was pretty, had big blue eyes and had a very dark brown fur.
“Now, now, I cooked the wraps by myself, and I heated up yours just like you like it, father. Adoni, mum was gone today. But it was mum who taught me, so give a paw for mum!” Ammerlyn exclaimed. Everyone clapped, and Nubby hit her paws together awkwardly which made no noise at all. They lived in a small cottage, and had a farm growing vegetables. A famine was going through the land, but the Alnsons’ farm was going quite well. There was a bang on the door.
“Okay, I’m coming!” Mrs. Alnson yelled kindly. She opened the door to see a terrible sight. A wildcat, with an eye patch over one eye, a snarl on his face and a very strong looking body walked in with sword in hand. He was tall and strong, and growled at everyone. Nubby started to cry.
“Shut that fat little thing up or I’ll gut your parents!” He yelled at Adoni. Adoni always had a way with Nubby, and he got her to stop almost instantly.
“Leave my house right now Firdonian the Wild! Or I’ll give you something you have never seen a squirrel mother do before!” Mrs. Alnson yelled furiously. Firdonian slapped her in the face and took all the food.
“Evandy, Bajee, Radolii! Get in here. And take the father and the two older children; leave the foolish mother and her young children here. But burn the cottage! Hahahahahahahahaha!” He laughed horrendously. A rat named Radolii, who was a small but scary rat with only one ear, took the older brother Maplin. Then a bobcat named Evandy (Firdonian’s cousin) took Ammerlyn. He was similar to Firdonian, but no eye patch. He had a helmet with a skull on top, and was the second in command of Firdonian’s army of rats, bobcats, wildcats, foxes, and a few badgers. Bajee, the biggest of every vile creature in the army, crouched very low to get in the cottage. You could see his gigantic sword that was taller then any one else alive in his belt. And a mighty, thick, two ended axe strapped to his back. No one else alive could wield these massive weapons, but not only could he wield them, but throwing them. He was extremely strong, but couldn’t be a leader because he wasn’t smart. He only knew capture, burn, pillage, whip, torture and kill. His talking could use a little help two. He put Mr. Alnson on his shoulder and walked out the door, leaving everyone in aw. The army left, but burned the cottage. Adoni, Nubby, and Mrs. Alnson were trying to get out, but had no luck. Finally Adoni opened a window and cleared the burning wood.
“Here, take your father’s sword, it may do you good. Take Nubby with you. I couldn’t go through that window. Go!” Adoni’s sweet mother yelled. Adoni tried to hold back the tears as he complained,
“But mum, I need you. Please help. Where do I go?”
“Try Bell Vine, I hear it’s wonderful. Now go!” Mrs. Alnson replied with tears flowing down her cheeks. She gave Adoni the sword and bid them goodbye. Nubby and Adoni were both crying, and they went through the window and left the cottage. But it burned to the ground when they were thirty yards away from it. With tears stinging his eyes, Adoni looked at his father’s sword, which was now his. It had a pure gold handle, but a comfortable fit. It had a silver steel blade that was forged by Adoni’s great great grandfather, the greatest blacksmith to live. It was the only rich thing they had, and their biggest treasure. Nubby was on his shoulders crying. They were dying of thirst, and they walked and walked. Looking desperately for a cold stream, they walked away from their home, their happy life, and their family.
*****
One month later. Adoni and his sister were walking away from a stream they had just got a drink from. They had a bath in a stream two days earlier, and did not smell very good. But they did not care much. Then they saw a sign, it said:
Welcome to Bell Vine Woods, founded by a squirrel named Rirrin Alnson,. Peace and tranquility swarm this land. Have a pleasant stay here, and if you are moving here, we hope you like it. Enjoy Bell Vine Woods.
“Well, were here at last, thank goodness! You and I are going to love Bell Vine. I just know it! And the squirrel who made this sword founded these woods, it will be great!” Adoni encouraged. Nubby was still a baby, and her talking wasn’t the best.
“We gon loov it here, Attany?” She asked.
Adoni chuckled, “Of course we will. Hey look, let’s go meet them!” He yelled. A while down in the woods taking a drink from a stream was a rabbit and a hare. They were cousins, and obviously brave warriors. The rabbit was short, but was strong and his hind legs were amazing, he could kick anyone down. The hare was much taller, but did not have the strength like his cousin. But he made up for that with knife fighting skills and being a great archer. He had a bow and arrows strapped to his back and a knife in his belt. The rabbit had a sword in his belt and he used his legs for the rest of his fighting.
“Hi, we are new to the woods. My name is Adoni Alnson and this is my sister Nubby.”
The two cousins laughed, “So you are an Alnson? Great to meetcha! I’m Revvy, Revvy the warrior rabbit they call me, so they do.”
“And I am Driscoll, Driscoll the archer. We two land rovers are cousins, so we are. Consider us friends, and will show you around. How ‘bout that, eh, eh?” The hare said.
“Wonderful!” Adoni exclaimed, “but, our parents our dead. And we really can’t live on our own. So how about you two white furred rovers stay with us? I can’t protect my baby sis on my own.” The cousins burst out laughing, “Of course we’ll help ya friends. And I am truly sorry ‘bout your family. Look out!” An arrow whizzed over Revvy’s head as he spoke. Revvy took out his sword, and cautiously walked down the bank of the stream. Driscoll put an arrow to his bow string and got ready to fire. Adoni pulled out his marvelous sword. Five foxes ran out of their hiding places and all armed with swords they attacked the three brave fighters. An arrow from Driscoll took down one fox, and Revvy stabbed another. Revvy then jumped up and kicked a fox with his hind legs knocking him down breathless. Adoni swung his sword hard to the right slaying another. The last standing fox was about to stab Revvy from behind but was cut down by Driscoll’s knife. The fox that Revvy kicked was gasping for air.
“You’ll regret this, all of you! I’ll come back with the Fi”- But he was knocked senseless by a beaver.
“I ‘ope ya warriors didn’t mind me knocking this crazy fox over here. I’m Brendal, and I want to dethrone the cat that calls himself king of Bell Vine. He doesn’t even have blood relations with the guy who founded this place.” The beaver said. He was a strong beaver, with a big hard tail. He pointed to a girl beaver that was holding a baby beaver.
“This is my wife Rudy and the cute little baby she is holding is our darlin’ daughter Luquo. And you warriors are?” Greetings were going all around, Adoni speaking for Nubby. Then Adoni remembered something,
“Who is this tyrant cat you speak of? And I have the true royal blood. My great great grandfather made this sword and these woods.” He held out the sword, and everyone gasped.
“Well, true king of Bell Vine, why don’t you and your friends come eat dinner with us and we will make plans on what to do about the tyrant issue?” Rudy suggested. Everyone agreed with bellies rumbling hungrily.
*****
It was an excellent dinner, nuts, acorns, carrots balls, and apples mashed to make a salad dressing. It was poured over fresh lettuce, in a wooden bowl. The beavers had a garden and an orchard outside of their dam.
“Luquo, eat your salad. Well King Adoni, what do you think of your salad and my special fit-for-a-king salad dressing? My own recipe, I made it from scratch years ago. By the way, you don’t have to eat the bowl like us beavers.” Rudy chuckled.
“It’s wonderful. Would you stop calling me king? I’m not sure if I want to be king. But if it will rid you of a tyrant I guess I can. Now, who is this tyrant and how do we stop him?” Adoni asked.
“Well, a month ago he came here from some place out east. Killed our king, a nice squirrel, probably your cousin or something, and then called himself King Firdonian the Great.” Revvy explained.
“Firdonian!” Adoni yelled, “That idiot! How do we stop him?” He asked determined. Revvy smiled,
“Well, Driscoll and I, we’ll scout for some warriors to start. Who wants to come?” Only Adoni raised his hand.
“Done, tomorrow Driscoll, Revvy and I will scout for troops. Nubby you stay here.” Adoni planned.
“Hold right there, before we start fighting let’s have some fun. Sweetie, will you play the tune for the Beaver River Dance on your harmonica?” Rudy asked.
“Of course I will.” Brendal replied as he grabbed his harmonica.
Rudy instantly burst into a dance. She kicked her legs up and twirled like she had rehearsed this moment for her whole life. She whacked her tail down forcing her to hop high. She kicked up in the air, landed on the table and spun around five times then jumped again in a perfect flip then landed softly on the ground. Roars of applause followed this incredible stunt.
“You guys think that was good, come on Revvy lets show ‘em. Play the tune to Riding Rabbit Hare Hoedown!” Revvy grabbed the harmonica and started playing on a fast pace. Driscoll leapt, kicked, spun and flipped masterfully. He then was too close to the door when he hopped back. He hit the door open and went out of the dam and into the shallow stream. Thunderous laughter followed,
“Hahahahahahahahahaha! Definitely a hare hoedown!”
“More like a hare fall down if you ask me! Hahahahahaha!” Revvy stopped playing, and Driscoll’s wet body got up. He stood there, wet and undignified, after a failing attempt to dance.
*****
The next morning Rudy packed food for all of the three brave travelers. All of which had enough for one person for four days. They said their goodbyes and walked off. At around lunch time they saw a large group of hares, twenty to be exact. All armed, well trained, and strong. When all the hares saw Driscoll they bowed and all yelled, “Driscoll the Great, we are ready to fight to the death!” Driscoll chuckled,
“No need to follow me anymore, he is your master now.” He pointed at Adoni, “He is an Alnson and true king of Bell Vine Woods. I give you King Adoni Alnson!” Adoni stood up.
“If we are to overthrow Firdonian we must have strong brave warriors ready to fight to the death if needed. Will you join us?” He yelled. Every hare ran to the side of their new leader. Revvy knew the danger of treason against Firdonian but felt confident in Adoni.
*****
In the great Bell Vine castle Firdonian the Wild sat on the throne, his crown on his head. In his throne room was his three officers Bajee, Evandy, and Radolii stood in front of their evil leader. Soldiers swarmed the castle, it was a big army. No army ever could match the strength of Firdonian’s evil army. Some guards brought in a squirrel, a mouse, and an otter. They were all slaves of Firdonian, and attempted to run away this morning.
“Guards, good job bringing back the fugitives, you may go.” The guards left the room. “Now, you three ran off today, and you must be punished. Radolii, get some of your rats and hang these three. Whip them as they are hanged, they must teach a lesson to all my other slaves that plan on escaping. Bajee, you whip them two. Go now, leave me.” Firdonian said menacingly. An old wildcat named Suropin who spoke Firdonian’s laws, also called out his long list of names.
“Conqueror of all Conquerors, Destroyer of all Destroyers, King of All the Lands, Emperor of the Woods, Firdonian the Wild, Firdonian the Menace, these are his names, beware of King Firdonian the Great!”
*****
Bajee and Radolii walked along the castle courtyard, with many rats behind them. They finally reached the platform where they hung traitors and runaway slaves.
“Alright, hang the slaves.” Radolii demanded. The slaves were gasping for air.
“Whip them!” Bajee yelled. And the slaves who were being hung grunted with pain, and gasped for a breather. Bang! A rock hit Radolii in the back of his gray head.
“Hey, you slave, get over here!” He yelled at the slave who hurled the rock at him. He swung his sword at the culprit but missed. The young otter skipped to the side and threw another rock, hitting Radolii in the hip. They otter kicked him and sidestepped again. When Radolii got up his sword was buried in the ground and he couldn’t get it out of the dirt. The otter kneed him in the face. It was a boxing match now. The otter ducked from a punch then kicked Radolii in the knees. Radolii couldn’t land a punch on the quick otter. Finally more rats helped, but no one could touch the otter. Even when someone would wave a long sword at him they would miss badly. The otter kicked at Radolii’s surprised face as he yelled the war cry otters yell in Bell Vine,
“For Rakkle! For Rakkle! For Rakkle! For Rakkle!” All the rats were amazed at the young otter’s courage. Instantly, a wave of arrows shot out of nowhere, all of them hitting the rats. Radolii was not hit though. The brave young otter and his otter friends all escaped. The four otter slaves escaped. They were reunited with their families. King Rakkle of the River Otters in Bell Vine was glad to have his four young warriors back. Rakkle was a strong otter, brown fir, he is known as the greatest otter archer to live. He also is great swordsman. The young otter that fought the rats is Rindle, Prince of the River Otters in Bell Vine. He is a sturdy young otter, brave boxing otter and swordsman. Dido, his mother, Queen of the River Otters in Bell Vine, is the greatest cook in Bell Vine. And she is also a great archer. The River Otters were happy again, but this was not nearly as big of a surprise as what they will get…

Adoni and his army of hares marched through the woods, get rather hungry. He looked at Revvy,
“Revvy, when do we stop?” Revvy smiled,
“When we reach Arstol the Eagle. He is the fiercest bird you ever will meet. He could rip an owl with his talons.”
Adoni chuckled,
“Let’s just hope he’s on our side.” Kra! Kra! Kra! Three owls popped right in front of the party.
“You have entered Queen Rana’s domain!”
