OOC: Aw, come on Shard, you can do better than that... *teasing wink* Bring it on, mate, show me what'cha got!
BIC: *The small, sturdily-built form of Marie Blue-eyes Yewbow stepped into the center of the arena, radiating confidence and perhaps a bit of arrogance. The Commander was clothed in a light, beige-colored tunic; a loose, knee-length skirt; and a pair of supple, leather-brown boots. A usual outfit for her, but a bit light for the still-wintry weather. However, she intended to get some good exercise, and therefore cool, comfortable clothing was advisable. In her scarred left paw rested a short wooden sword, a little bit longer than her dirk. Her right paw felt unusually light, as her body protested the absence of her accompanying dagger. The mouse had decided to expand her weaponry skills, and so had been experimenting some with the sword, as opposed to her usual double-bladed arsenal.
She spotted Shard, her would-be opponent, and smirked confidently. Sauntering forward, she raised a paw in greeting and nodded politely.* Shard, m'boy! Greetin's. Ah don' s'pose there's much sense in waitin', so ah'm ready as e'er now.
*Maintaining her smirk, the Northern-heritaged warrior raised her sword and assumed her stance. Contrary to her normal fighting style, her positioning was offensive rather than defensive. She leaned forward slightly, balancing with her long, tapered tail; her paws were light on the ground, ready to dance away or forward on a moment's notice; she swayed only slightly in a brisk breeze, watching her opponent carefully. Narrowing her eyes warily, she grasped the hilt of the wooden weapon with both paws, and stepped sideways and a little bit forward. She made no move to attack, preferring to allow Shard the first move, but her actions made it clear that this was not a fight she planned to play on the defense.*

Ummm.... *The short, sturdy squirrel, unconfident and lacking experience, shrugged his shoulders and waved in response to Marie.* Aw, man, I'm such a noob... *Shard quickly and carefully removed the steel gauntlet and pauldron from his left hand and arm, letting them fall to the ground at his side.* I just realized... *Shard spins the practice sword in his right paw.* ... that I have no clue what I'm doing... *Shard smoothly assumes an offensive stance, now very unassure of himself.*

OOC: Hey, Shard, do you mind if I give you some advice? XD Since this isn't an RPing competition, I thought it'd be a good idea to dish out some advice. What'cha think? I won't if you don't want me to. ^^
BIC: *Sensing her opponent's uncertainty, Marie frowned slightly, her brow furrowing in mild annoyance. She had been hoping that the young squirrel would provide her with some good competition, but it seemed that, instead, he was only going to challenge her skills at handling less experienced opponents. Brushing away the annoyance on her face, she attempted adopting the air of a friendly mentor, relaxing slightly and following Shard's movements with experienced eyes.*
Weel, there's a first time fer everythin', laddie buck. Might as well learn now, agains' a frien', instead o' later, again' an enemy, y'ken. *The golden-furred mouse's eyes widened slightly as her young opponent swung his blade in a circle, handling it with more expertise than she had expected. Cocking her head slightly, she regarded Shard quizzically.* Och, ye've got tae ken somethin' about wot yer doin', mate, or ye'd be droppin' that weapon o' yers all o'er the place. Come no', take the first move, m'boy. Ah promise not t'urt yew too badly.
*Grinning and winking, she maintained a defensive position, now determined to draw the squirrel-lad from his shelter of insecurity. If he wanted to play the novice, there wasn't much she could do, but she was determined to do what she could to provoke him into giving some effort. If she failed, she failed. But if she succeeded, she knew she might find a new and surprising side to the squirrel. Or he could be genuinely lost, and the swordplay could be the only trick he knew. She wrinkled her snout slightly. Well that would be anticlimatic...*

OOC: Yeah, that's fine. And much appreciated. Thanks.
*Shard stops spinning the sword, sheathing it in an iron scabbard at his side. It was apparent that the squirrel was to be the first attacker of the battle. His paw still clutching the handle of his sword, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. The young squirrel started at a fast walk toward his opponent. Soon running, Shard unsheathed the wooden weapon a few feet from Marie. Shard swung the sword upwards and to the right, aiming at Marie's torso. Despit the appearance of the powerful-looking attack, it was less than half-hearted, as Shard had the habit of almost always intentionally missing his opponents or making the blows too light; this was because Shard had accidentally wounded a close friend once(This will be in my bio... if I ever get around to writing it...).*

Hmmmmmm... Ah! Pole-arms... My specialty... I think I'll go for a long-hafted warhammer for a change from a scythe.
**Horus lifted the large, long-hafted, wooden hammer from the rack. Striding to a clear part of the arena, he planted the hammer head-first in the ground, and rested his paws on the butt of the weapon.**
Anybeast fancy fightin' a timber wolf?
OOC: Post in gold if you wish to fight me.

*Rinafera lifted his blade, entering the arena to face the wolf. His blade made a wonderful shing as it ripped off the sheathe. With it, he cut a wooden staff and made it good and hard. To hurt a bit, but not to injure or kill. Lifting the staff, he ran at Horus.* AHHHHHH!
*He bellowed as he swung the staff downward at the timber wolf.*
EDIT: OOC: I have it now thanks. EDIT AGAIN: Okay, I have it now. TIMBER WOLF, got it.

OOC: Thank you.
BIC: I think not Rina.
**Ducking to the side of the hammer, Horus lifted it up and swung the oak head at Rina's hips.**
Dodges this in a month of rest days.

*The hare flipped the staff back up and deflected the blow to his hips. Turning he thrusted the staff near the wolf's head.*

Nice. But not close enought Rina.
**Horus put his left paw in the way. As soon as the staff struck his paw, he clenched it while ignoring the pain. With his right paw, he gripped the hammer close to it's head, and swung it at Rina. The hammer shot forwards in his grip untill he clenched his paw tight over the handle.**
