It has been brought to my attention that the current name of our division is from Warhammer 40k. Quite frankly, neither I nor Darter will stand for this, seeing as it could pretty much classify as plagiarsim and that such a name does not fit in with the Redwall setting of GoM. I'll set up a poll to vote for the names we had originally selected as our 'finalists'.

Can I please tell my side of this?
While it's true I found the name as a phrase in a book, I had last read that book in July, but before I joined this site, and certanly before the divisions were brought in. The phrase stuck in my mind long after the details of the story had faded from my mind. When I was comming up was a list of names, "Dominus Nox" just sprung there, it sounded familiar, but I couldn't place from where. I could've heard it on TV or the Radio, a friend, anywhere. But no. It was in a book that I barely recalled. I glanced at all the books in the same seris area (40K, not any other Warhammer series), when I glanced at "Lords Of The Night", my heart seemed to miss a beat. It was there. Written in black and white was the phrase and the meaning. The words didn't mean anything further than what I said when I submited the idea as a name. Anybody with the right latin dictionary/on-line translater, could have looked for the words, and their meaning for sport. I could've... I looked up the words in latin that I use on translaters, it was only this time that it was a book that gave me the idea for a name like this... Admitedly, I use books, and my imagination for charector names, but I make the mistake of the mistake of posting the quotes from the book, and it feels like everyone's against me. I can't even post on my own quest because of my feelings. I'm the victim of name-calling, and the butt of every joke, my feelings are not easily hurt anymore, but this really touches a nerve for me. That's my tale, and by all that's sacred, I'll stand by them till the end.

Aw Raiden, we're not against you. If it had been anyone else who had suggested it the end result woulda been the same. If someone had used a latin translator and gotten it we still would have come to the same conclusion. We just don't want to use a name from a book, regardless of what book that is.

"Dominus Nox" means nothing more than "lord night." If you want the true Latin of "Lords of the Night," look no further than "Domini Noctis." Perhaps that will avoid the striking breach of originality and the wrath of your moderators.

It's not the fact that he stole if form warhammer, which I believe he didn't, but the fact that it's still a name from something else. Like Darter said, even someone were to have found it via latin traslator, that doesn't cancel out the fact that yes, there is some sort of group by that name in Warhammer. Besides, I personally think latin's a bit out of verse and whatnot...
