ooc; No offence, Raiden, but Crystal's bitter about having to follow his orders. She's still a bit peeved with him. DD: Also, I might not post mcuh because I'm waiting for the posts to add up so I have something to say. Me, Nadia, and Sandegar normally post less times, but longer posts, so I guess it makes up for our rounds of inactivity? And sorry, RUSHED. Dx xx. Crystal So throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot, You might wake and notice you're something you're not. If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, You can find out first hand what it's like to be me. After traveling so long, she felt as if the long walk was just a brisk morning jog. The vixen rocked back and forth on her feet impatiently, and after a few seconds, sped up to include a bounce. Blinking her sharp eyes, the young fox, whom was glad to be in the company of some of the old group of Guardians, was obviously down at the thought of takeing orders from the mouse. If it had been Rinafera, Sandegar, Laylark, Darter, Finn, or anyone but Raiden, she knew she'd have felt better. She cast a glance at Shard, whom was clumsily trying not to fall. Raising an eyebrow, she bit back a scornful laugh, keeping her face straight. Yes, she'd have even rathered this foolish new Guardian over the elder mouse. In fact, she was reminded of the first mission she ever went on, looking at Shard whom was obviously troubled by something. Nadia was the last to come foreward from the gloomy shadows, and each creature turned their eyes to meet Raiden's good eye. She remebered how disgusted and unnatural that had seemed to her the first time she relise the mouse was half blind, but after being on the crew of the Nightpearl, she got used to the First Mate being half blind. With a painful prickle in her chest, she wondered if they were okay. She's notcied that without a female presensce amidst them they were far more wild. Rubbing her palms together, she pricked her ears foreward to Raiden. "Right everyone, the program for this training is simple; We are going into the woods without supplies for about three days. What is going to happen is you will use your knowledge of the woodland to gather food and water. Since there are plenty of vermin still roaming the woods, it is likely we will be getting attacked. As a few of you might know, I tend to throw myself into the thickest part of the fighting. Not this time... This time, I will be staying out of the fight as an observer to this training. Am I clear on what is going to happen?""Hey," Crystal scoffed, a smirk on her face, "I thought this was training, not a ramble along the daisy-chain to the tea party. You'd better not be fighting and take all the fun, my dearest Raiden, because that's the only diffrence between this 'training' and camping." "When do we leave?"Crystal turned her head to face Fishrudder, whom was uneasily looking around. The vixen inwardly beamed. Good, somebody but me that wants to get down to buisness! Whilst still listening to the chatter around her, Crystal rumaged in her pack, looping her chain around her waist and then putting her kama at the holisters at her hips. There was nothing more in the bag - for she had placed most its contents in her barrack - but her tattered old diary, a quill and a tiny bottle of ink, a few strips of cloth, a tiny spool of thread with a needle, and two other dresses. After a few tense seconds, she deemed the sewwing kit as harmless enough and fastened her bag back. Slinging it over her shoulder, the vixen stood again. "Just three days of fending for ourselves, jah? That should be no problem to this lot."Yes, she was really starting to like these new recruits. Shard's use of the word 'just' made him all the more spirtied. The next few exchanged passed her by, memories flooding to her of treking these same woods with diffrent comrades and for diffrent reasons. And her very first mission - a self appointed quest with a small group of her friends to the northlands to find what had happened to her beloved parents as they left for war ten years previous. And it was then she learned to fight, her old hare teacher's lessons never leaving her. And then there was her father's sword that never left her ethier, since, as his son became a healer and his daughter the warrior, the broadsword he had crafted was passed down to his younger, more capable of using it daughter. Putting her paw in the hilt of the sword protectivly, she came too again as Raiden shouted. "What are you all waiting for? An invitation? Move out!""Waitin' for you to get your tail into gear!" She yowled back in a fine rebelious tone, following the Streotype of the rebellious recruit to an absolute T. She'd show these new Guardians that she didn't care about upsetting the 'White Knight'. In fact, she really didn't care about him at all. As long as he stayed out of her way, they'd both be alive and well at the end of this trip. So gather 'round, piggies, And kiss this goodbye. I encourage your smiles! I expect you won't cry! .xx

OOC: I've given A fair few days... Okay, my turn to post.
~~~
Waitin' for you to get your tail into gear!
My tail was in gear before you lot had woken yourselves up! All of you, move out!
**Knowing what his former friend was doing, Raiden was only semi-grateful. He didn't want that rift between to stay open, but he'd said things he couldn't take back... not to mention he had threatend to kill her. Though, the latter part of it wasn't intentional... He'd since learned to control that dark corner of his mind, but the damage had been done.**
Crystal, a brief word if you please.
ooc; Yeah, I know I'm posting to frequently. But I'm bored. Bored. D: And Raiden's post was directed mainly at me, so... Oh yeah, babe. I'm gonna be kinda ranting and raving in this, because Crys feels really strongly about how much she wants to hit Raiden in the back of the head with a shovel... Yeah. Sorry that I go ahead and say he followed her a bit of a distance away near the end... Muse dead. And not real song lyrics, i made them up. T_T xx. Crystal Tell me a fable from the days of old, Where the summers are warm and the winters cold. Tell me a tale of a far-away place, Paint me a picture, Give the world a new face. "My tail was in gear before you lot had woken yourselves up! Move out!""I've been up all night, babe, so I sort of doubt it." It was more than just playing a streotype now. Raiden and Crystal were up to their old tricks again, the brawny Raiden clashing wits against the brainy vixen, each one getting knocked back with venomus words before pary with another cold glance or phrase. They dared one another to make a wrong move or comment, simply so they could flaunt how much of a the fool the other was. And, yet, it seemed less out of place every time it happened, since it had happened nearly every time they had met since the age of dibbiuns. They had never really hit it off well, but their childhood rivarly to show the other up hadn't been bad untill Crystal met him again in the tournement. Crystal's eventual captain, Rikian, had desperately sought to end a fight between Raiden and Erksta Riverrider, an infamous evil otter of the seas. However, in the spur of the moment, Rikian had talked to gallently and tripped over his toungue, angering the mouse immeansly.
Crystal, however, had been watching silently with her hood drawn, drinking in the corner. At the call of danger, she had come in teeth bared in in a raging fury over Raiden's immature behavior. And as he threatened to kill her, she tore open her arms in defience. And thus the true hating begain. Every meeting after they clashed, and when Raiden had lost at his fight against her, Crystal felt complete. She disappeared from the earth again, roving with the band of pirates she had come to love. Although, even surrounded by the happy, joyful crew, hate brewed in her heart, and the bloodlust had never left her. Raiden's blood.
He had a deathwish from the momment they had reached eyes that fateful day in the musty old tavern. No, it had all begain 17 years ago when they met at Redwall. Now 21, she was more responsible, but her hate had never left her. She was waiting for him to slip up. He would fail and she would pounce. It was jsut a matter of waiting it out.
Grinding her molars, the vixen flawlessly fell into line, her grace and elegence tripling due to the mouse's prensece. She had to be perfect, as did he, if they wanted to make it though his mission. I should have know. Stars help me, Crystal wordlessly pleaded in her head, rolling her eyes upward to veiw the brightly hued canvas. "Crystal, a brief word if you please."That took the vixen off guard, she wasn't expect anything civil from him. Maybe he'd learned his manners. Maybe he was guilty. Or gloating. She couldn't tell. All she knew was that her bloodlust was raising with every second - Raiden had promised an eventful quest and she wanted it fufilled. Now. However, unwilling to let the mouse get to her, the vixen instanly came up with a reply. "Alright," she spat, "but keep your toungue civil and your brain from rattleing - I'll tear out your toungue and tie your brain down with it if you're going to annoy me the entire way." As said, she was.... pleasent. And by that, I mean macrabe. Fun to be around. That is, if you're a vampire or some other bloodthirsty hunter or huntress of the night.
Walking lightly away from the group, she stalked past Raiden, each step stiff, her eyes lackluster due to her wish to mask her rage. Twitching her tail for him to hurry himself was the only rise her got out of her. Dull boots thumping agaisnt the hard-packed earth, the vixen kept a fair distance from the mouse. Turning suddenly, she let her rage show clearly as she barred her teeth, speaking through her clenched canines. "Hurry up and spill, mouse. You have a patrol to lead, unfit for it as you are... White Knight." The name he claimed to be was said with scarcasum unmatched by any other creature. She didn't belive in such pitiful tales as 'The White Knight.' Tell me a story of legends that rose, Tell me a story where the hero's courage shows. Let the words be never your demise, Nevermore, Nevermore, Even when the light is gone from your eyes. .xx
OOC: This post of mine's sort of outside the Training, so it's not going to influence anyone but Rai and Crystal. ~~~
Maybe so, but there are things I have to say that can not wait.
**Shifting how his coat sat on his shoulder, he held her gaze levely and without anger.**
I know WHY you challenge me at every turn, and I accept that. I said things I shouldn't have... You beat me in the tournament? So what? Anything I can walk away from I'll call a victory, even if it IS a moral one.
**Closing his eyes for a moment, the mouse sighed before re-opening his eyes.**
I'm in charge because I passed Commander Darter's training last time. But for this to work, I may not be interfering directly in what happens to the group, but I need YOU todoas I order without question. You may want me dead, and by the pantheron, I WANT to die... But you won't be the one to do it. Maybe when this is over, I can give you a spar like the old days... Maybe then you can settle your grudge against me... No go. Join up with the others, and continue on the path. I'll keep my word and follow on behind.
ooc; The lyrics... are a bit out of it. xD God, I love the song. It's from the movie Monty Python and the Meaning of Life. Awesome movie. x3 And sorry for any auto-hits I may do. I'm really out of practice with that. D: xx. Crystal Just remeber that you're stand on a planet that's evolving, And revolving at a nine-hundred miles an hour, It's orbiting 19-thousand miles a second, so it's rekcond, The sun that is the sorce of all our power... The crimes she had commitied in the past would never be wiped off her slate, to use a figure of speech, but regardless, Crystal didn't give a damn. Raiden didn't know a thing about her so-called 'sins', and he was better off knowing nothing. Heard by no judge or jury, the things she had done and was ashamed of in the past were only tried by her own morals and emotional compastity. As for fighting with Raiden... The fox looked down slightly - even if se was short, species made her taller by a few inches - and stared, hard, into his eyes. Even if the rest of the group could not hear the words passing between them, they could easily tell by body language that nethier was happy about the exchange.
All along her body, the vixen's pelt stood up in anger, making her heavy coat even larger, it's snow color only tainted by the brown tint it aquired in the warmer months. Her ears were laid back agressivly, and she begain to pop her knuckles as a reaction to her nerves. Raiden was more calm, but she didn't care anymore. She wanted him to fear her rage and back down. She didn't want to be forced to hurt him, but she wanted him to fear. She wanted him to fear and hurt and hate and know exactly how she'd felt about this. I should be ashamed of this, she thought, almost gulitily. ... I'm not."Maybe so, but there are things I have to say that can not wait. I know WHY you challenge me at every turn, and I accept that. I said things I shouldn't have... You beat me in the tournament? So what? Anything I can walk away from I'll call a victory, even if it IS a moral one. I'm in charge because I passed Commander Darter's training last time. But for this to work, I may not be interfering directly in what happens to the group, but I need YOU to do as I order without question. You may want me dead, and by the pantheron, I WANT to die... But you won't be the one to do it. Maybe when this is over, I can give you a spar like the old days... Maybe then you can settle your grudge against me... No go. Join up with the others, and continue on the path. I'll keep my word and follow on behind."As normal, Raiden made a speech of something that only needed a few words. She rolled her eyes, but begain to relax. She knew he feared her, deep down she knew it. He might never admit to it, but she knew it. She let her ears prick forward about a few seconds of his gruff bass voice, not paying much attention to the words but more of how he said them. Yes, she did process what he was saying, but she was looking for a note of a lie in his voice. After a few seconds of silence, she responded in her normal saprano, but it carried the low undertone of unmasked loathing. "Idiot mouse. You'll have the entire lot of us killed. All of us, dead! But I'm not going to argue much longer. Just hear me out. No, I'm going to follow your orders. And then I'll let you be the one to bury the bodies and try to wash the stain of blood off your paws. And you'll be the one to return with the bad news. But you'd better tell them the truth and say you led the group to their death!" It was a critical hit to the heart and she knew it. She was more mature than she had been, but she had the slight tainting of insanity as well. Without giving him time to speak, the vixen stalked away, head hung as if she had been beaten, instantly wiping her face clean of her insane victory. Soundlessly, she waltzed back into her splace, head downcast, eyes completely lack-luster. She would not speak to Raiden tthe entire trip if she could avoid it - if he tried, she decided she would flee to the safety of the rest of the goup.
Can't take the kid from the fight, take the fight from the kid.As fast as it can go, the speed of light, you know, Twelve million miles per hour, and that's the fastest speed there is!, So rember when you're feeling very small and insecure, How amazingly unlikely is your birth! And you better hope there's intelligent life somewhere out in space, Because there's bugger off down here on Earth! .xx
((OOC: I hate to use this cheat, but I’m gonna cut forward from where my last post left off to another point in time. I just don’t have the stamina right now to go through it all. =( Vain idiot, isn’t he?))
“Not down to the swamps, but we are headed rather Northwards.”
Gruff, shallow words in Raiden’s characteristic voice, barely remarkable, passed over Sandegar’s bowed head like a gentle breeze over fallen leaves in a golden wood, stirring and rustling the deep layers of crackling, dying beauty, but barely noticed by the forest as a single entity. The words of the corporal meant nothing to the tired hare in his dazed state, merely brushing the loose strands of thought in his mind. Yet the last word of this sentence, “northwards”, was a sudden gust of stormy wind in the wood, whipping through the trees in a torrential release of stinging vengeance, reminding the fading land of the winter to come.
For a moment, the dark brown eyes of the stunned hare remained fixed on the figure of the so-called “White Knight”, the seemingly pretentious mouse who was to lead the patrol. Then, lightly furred eyelids lowered slowly, accompanied by a low, barely audible sigh from deep within the body. Northwards, Sandegar thought, his clenched paws shaking slightly as he drew his arms up across his chest. It was all he could do to restrain the inferno of questions as they twisted and twined like snakes in his mind, poisoning his entire self with bitter, black venom.
“What are you all waiting for? An invitation? Move out!” Raiden commanded, and the silent hare felt the turmoil of his own inner conflict being brushed aside as his blood began to boil with indignation. Who did the mouse think he was, talking to a commander of the fort in such a tone? Yes, Raiden was welcome to order the others in the group around, but not him! He was the second-in-command of the Guardians of Mossflower, for goodness’ sake! This quest could hardly get any worse. What was this idiocy? Northwards under Raiden’s command?
“What did I do to deserve this?” Sandegar lamented in his mind, standing back absentmindedly as the others marched by. He held a gloved paw to his aching head, trying to restrain his smoldering temper. How he would survive the mission was completely beyond him, yet he had no choice but to continue. He had to endure the journey until the very end and back; only then would he be able to step up and volunteer to take up the position War Commander Darter had occupied – Head Boundary Guardian. Only this test of patience was the barrier between Sandegar and his goal.
With another sigh, he shouldered his longbow and quiver. Falling into line at the back of the group, he walked, not marched, very reluctantly out through the tall gates. His shambling gait dragged his feet over the slippery grass, as the leather of his boots bloated slightly with the dew that seeped in. Slipping his thumbs through his belt, he tapped the hardened black leather, the repeated action the only indicator of his mounting annoyance. His head still hurt, he had been given orders by Raiden (and he was now actually following them), and furthermore they were heading northwards.
And now – what was this? – Raiden was arguing with Crystal. It was pathetic, to say the least. Sandegar was completely convinced that the mouse would not lead the party effectively. There was no choice but for him to take the initiative, and begin organizing the expedition properly himself, as he knew was appropriate to the situation. His brown eyes carefully worked around the little group, scanning over each figure as if to evaluate them, which he was, in fact, doing. He finally settled on the black otter with the startling blue eyes, who looked experienced enough. She could probably hold up in a fight alright.
Still with his thumbs trapped between his belt and his body, he picked up his pace and loped up to the otter, letting the wind and his movement ruffle his fur as his black cloak ballooned out dramatically. With a slight smile of smug confidence that betrayed his conviction that what he was doing was completely right, he fell into step beside his fellow Guardian. Flicking his cloak off his shoulder to reveal the black and green Commander's insignia printed on the cut-off sleeves of his black vest, he tipped his ears in a casual greeting.
“Sandegar Arrowhawk.” He hesitated. “Pleasure to meet you, Miss...” He added questioningly, turning to the otter, waiting expectantly for her name.
Not one to usually challenge authority, Taith was perhaps a tad unsure of Raidens leadership qualities. If he was going to be preoccupied arguing with Crystal, how could he prove an efficient leader to the rest of the group? Doubt twisted in her mind, sending her into a nightmarish daydream of troubles that could befall them in the northern territories of Mossflower.
She jumped as a hare joined her, hands on her twin knives out of habit. Realizing how foolish she must have looked, she smiled at his original request for her name, she laughed. Taith Trueshaft, I's nice t' meet ye. Taith extended a paw to the hare in greeting, her rolled up sleeves and billowing cloak revealing her silvery tatoos to the hare, gleaming and shining down the lengths of her arms to her pawtips.
OOC: Finally... I'm gonna make a post now... I'm bored witless form waiting... Plus my room's PC is feeling fried.
~~~
I'm not going to lead the group to their deaths Crystal... I'm not that careless.
**Dispite Crystal's "victory", Raiden was totaly unfazed by her words. He knew where his prioities lay; Do his job of leading the group through the training, and making sure they all survive. His survival was secondary to that, but it was still nessicary. With his growing control of the Bloodcurse within him, it was less likely that he would lose control and make a rash choice. Picking up the rear of the group, he didn't care about the looks any of the others were giving him. He had his mission, he was going to follow it.**
