*The wind blew harshly, snow fell upon the deserted streets of the half barbaric Western Settlement. Rinafera Woxwitty III, however, walked by his lonesome along the dusty path. With a little cottage to his left and right, here and there. Cold, the brown hare rubbed his arms while pulling his jacket to suit more of his warmness needs. The scimitar his father gave him sat loosely in its sheathe, and the stiletto he took from the dead searat back at the Fort was tucked in the backstrap of his cloak. Different thoughts flooded through Rinafera's mind; the departation of Elena the Mouse, his return to Mossflower from the Northern Camps, and even what Darter would think when the Leader of the Guardians discovered his return. The hare smiled briefly, and heard a distant noise from behind him. It echoed a bit, and almost sounded like a screaming infant. As he kept walking, he remembered something.I'm a Guardia' of Mossf'ower! What am I doin' walkin' 'way from a beast in trouble? He turned suddenly, whipping around with a fierce determination. Rinafera ran faster than ever before, his footpaws making a distinct sound as they pattered on the ground. He turned to look down a dark path where the moonlight barely got through the canopy of trees over the woods. The hare saw a pack of a half dozen corsairs, holding two otter infants down to the ground. The Guardian tried to stay hidden, listening to their speech. He could barely make it out, but heard one word that instantly clued him in: ransom.*
Wot am I to do?
*He muttered to himself, and crept silently among the trees, his black cloak camaflouged in darkness. He quietly unsheathed the scimitar, and glared with hatred at the kidnappers. He only wished he hadn't walked alone, and took a few Guardians with him. Well, he hadn't much time to lose. Throwing himself in to the path, he challenged the searats and weasels.*
Le's go, you scum! I'm bally waitin' for a scrap, wot! Take me on, if you jolly fellows have the guts, and...
*His voice dropped low with anger.*
Drop the dibbuns, or die. Come on, fight me!

**Song was taking a walk with Brawn, and wondering what she was doing this far from the fort. The pretty squirrel felt her cloak being tucked tighter around her by loving and much larger paws. Brawn. The word echoed in her mind as she softly padded the cold ground. The sun was down, but the young maid was still warm. She blinked dozily as she stumbled across the snow.**
**Brawn was glad to be with his wife. They had been fueding lately, and were now making up. Silence pressed around them, acompanying the cold. Suddenly, he heard laughter, cries, and a challenge. The squirrel warrior pushed Song into some bushes as he dashed by her, his bushy tail streaming out behind him as he drew his lance and charged.**
**Song screached as the sounds of Babes crying reached her attentive perky ears. She felt her self pushed into a bush and screamed again. She painfully hauled herself upright and broke into a shambling run.** Sing!!!!!

*The rats began to rush at Rinafera, and the cold night air made it seem more dramatic. Then, out of the corner of his brown eye, the hare saw a squirrel jump out to fight them. It was a fellow Guardian, and also, it was a talented warrior named Brawn Oakbrush. Rinafera sighed for relief as he parried the first blow from the rat. He hopped to the side to dodge a weasel's stab, and turned to hit the rat on the back of the head with the hilt of his sword. The rat was knocked out cold. Deadear, the weasel, scowled and lunged at the hare. Rinafera sidestepped, as the vermin maliciously attacked with no poise or skill.*
Blaggard, you can not bally defeat me, wot!
*He continued toward the weasel, waving his scimitar. Just then, a second rat charged at him from his left. As the weasel also charged Rinafera ducked the swipe of the rat and pushed him into the weasel. Fighting half a dozen was harder than it sounded. The hare backed up, and slipped, dropping his scimitar. Before the weasel could strike him, Rinafera pulled out the stiletto and blocked the blow, but the rat came too. He was in dire need of help.*

**Brawn charged into the fray, mercilessly beating at a rat, while feending of the other with a dagger held in his oppisite paw. He grinned a little** No,I doubt he can. SOng! Get over here NOW!
**Song dashed into the clearing, and sighted the two young otters. Sweeping them up she quickly scanned them for injuries.**

*The hare held his stiletto, still on his back. He rolled to avoid a swipe from the rat, and got on his paws. As he was getting up, the rat turned and scarred him on the left shoulder. Cluthcing the wound in one paw, and fighting the rat with the other was difficult. Rinafera noticed the female squirrel get the baby otters and smiled. He had done his job. But the rat was still free. The hare darted to his right, and circled around the rat menacingly. The rat, Widdlesword, was a decent fighter, obviously trained. Rinafera was good, but still needed to patch up on many of his sword combat. The tail of the rat whipped out, striking Rinafera on the nose. The hare took a few steps back, clearly in pain. He sidestepped, then parried, and even dodged the sword and went into a thornbush. That was a huge mistake. Rinafera not only gave himself more wounds through his clumsiness, but almost fell and gave Widdlesword the edge. The hare leaped out, furious and wanting to get back to the fort. Cold, his paws were getting number every moment. Every time he blocked a blow it stung his paw. Angry, Rinafera lunged forward, ducking under the rat sword and stabbing into his leg. Widdlefoot fell in agony, and dropped his sword. Rinafera sighed, and picked up the sword.*
It's against my honor to hurt an unarmed foe. I'll bally spare your flippin life, wot!
*He threw the sword away with one paw, and put the stiletto in the back strap with the other. He walked to the other side of the path and piicked up his scimitar.*
Goodbye, scum.

**Song rushed out of the bushes, taking her healers pack off her back. She noticed both Brawn and Rinafera's wounds and frowned, irratated. The set the babes down on her cloak and smiled at the two warriors.** Where are you hurt?

*Rinafera shook his head. Then he noticed the baby otters. He smiled.*

OOC: Fine.
**Song smiled and started to heal the hare's injured shoulder. She looked over at the infants, gurgling happily as the wind ruffled their fluffy fur. She looked away, sure they where safe. Then she had an idea. Quickly, she dashed over to them, and untied her sash. She wrapped them up and tied the sash on her back in a sling. Then she dashed back and finished her job. Right as she tied off the bandage, she heard Brawn's voice calling out clearly, and saw a flash of mottled brownish-gray fur. A gasp escaped her as her husband's message reached her ears.** Vermin! Vermin!

*Rinafera gasped as he jumped from Song and wielded his scimitar. He looked for the vermin, and for Brawn, but could not find them. He continued searching, then ran across the path to find a weasel with a bow pointing at the hare. He gulped, but looked as if he was not afraid.*
Just try me.
OOC: Sorry for the short post. I don't have much to do in this spot.

**Song breathed sharply, as she saw both Brawn and Rin pinioned by arrows. One thing was left for her, as she dived into the bushes after her dagger, which had slid from her paw. She left the otters there, and then, with some unknown courage, she faced down the weasels, her dagger swinging in a deathsong around her head.** Back away slowly.
** The weasel looked at her, and then laughed. He was soon followed by his comrades, which numbered about a score. Songwind blanched as he looked her in the eye.** An' what if I don'? Eh? Well Pretty miss, wha' you gonna do?
**Song looked at Rin, her big brown eyes wide with fear.**

OOC: Guys, I'm not trying to direct this at you personally, or ruin your RPing thread here, but there wouldn't be vermin waiting around the fort just to ambush people. They were killed/driven off, and only the good or neutral ones stayed. Yes, there might be some 'evil' vermin here and there, or the odd encounter, but I've been seeing a lot of 'random' vermin attacks... Just think about it. That's all. Go on with your RP.

OOC: Sorry, But Darter, its kinda hard to make plot twist on a dark night with out vermin. Besides, we're in Mossflower, and vermin gangs are usually busy ambushing travelers.

OOC: Eh, you're not in Mossflower for this RP. But that's beside the point. I agree with you on the plot twist; I said I wasn't directing this at this thread or you in particular. I just don't want people assuming that vermin are all over the place.
