OOC: This quest is going to have limited entry, as it centers around a group of about five to eight. After a certain amount of time I’m going to close joining, and unless I get some brilliant plot change idea, you‘ll just have to deal. I’m sorry that it has to be that way, but I want to make this as realistic as possible. =D
The basic plotline is that Marie’s leading a small Patrol into Mossflower. We’ll head over to the Mossflower River and trek up the bank, keeping an eye out for vermin activity on and near the water. Along the way we’ll run into the Mossflower Holt and travel with them for a while (they’re traveling upstream as well). The Skipper will request that we run an errand for him up to Redwall, where some of the GUOSIM crew is holed up for the Spring Nameday Feast. After delivering the message/gift/whatever I decide to make it, we’ll return home.
There will be no vermin fighting, unless I change my mind mid-RP. This is an RP meant to stretch your writing skills and test your ability to adapt to new situations. Anyone can RP a fight -- slash, strike, dodge. It’s not all that complicated. It takes a different sort of talent, however, to roleplay a non-action situation like the ones we’ll run across in this thread. So, because I do intend to use this as a sort of training ground, you must be willing to commit to posting at least once a week, unless you can give me a good reason why you can‘t post. Also, you may not post more than three times a week, unless I indicate otherwise.
I will be completely in control of the plotline, although you may PM me with suggestions. I may direct some of you to RP changes in plot, so I’m not doing all the interesting RPing. =]
All this to say that you must take this RP seriously if you decide to join. I don’t want any half-baked, two-line posts, alright? If you can’t post at least two paragraphs, it’s usually better not to post at all. I’m willing to help you out if you’re having trouble, but I can’t do everything for you. This will (hopefully) be a challenge, but challenges make you stronger. If you never test yourself you’ll never get better.
Well, then, if you want to join, please post OOC. I’ll begin the roleplaying when I’ve gotten enough entries.
Current Roleplayers 1. Commander Marie Song Blue-eyes Yewbow 2. Crikulus 3. Rinafera 4. Raiden 5. Crystal 6. Mary Narai 7. Songwind Oakbrush 8. Tasna DeRud
Joining Status Joining is closed
Plotline Status We're just setting off from the Fort. Marie is impatiently awaiting the arrival of her traveling companions.

OOC: Sounds like you got yourself quite the limited RP there, Marie. Not that it's bad or anything that way, just interesting-like.
I'd like to join in, but somehow I doubt that I'll be able to bring Scratchy along with all the meeting up with other beasts. So instead, Scratchfur will be replaced by one of his good companions, Crikulus. He's a little bit of an irritable shrew, but he's a barrel of fun all in all (if you don't let his attitude make you kill him first).
I'll hopefully be able to do the 1 post a week thing, as long as I have time. I'm starting exam week already, then I'm moving to a new house, then finding a summer job, and then gosh knows what. If I find that I can't post at least once a week, I'll just pull Crik outta the RP, making it less hassle for you and the rest that join. Savvy?

OOC: Alright, y'all, glad to have you along! ^^ I'll hold off a bit before starting the RPing to see if anyone else is to join, but we can only take about three more at most.
But yeah, it's alright if you have to pull out, Scratchfur. =D It'll be nice to have you along for as long as you can.

OOC: Finally! I'm sorry, but this isn't my best RPing. >> I've been supa-busy recently, so I did the best I could with the time I had.
BIC: *Marie Blue-eyes Yewbow yawned widely and dragged a scarred pink paw through the rough golden-brown fur between her large ears. Though it was already midmorning, she was still feeling the aftereffects of last night’s disturbed rest. She had risen with the cold spring sun, and had found it impossible to return to her dreams. The small Guardian would have preferred to get a more thorough sleep, because she knew she would be working hard today, but that elusive escape had slipped through her grasp. She had buried herself in preparations for the upcoming trek, but that had only put off the weariness. The fit mouse blinked rapidly, willing away the tiredness that dragged at her mind. It would be better once the Patrol set off. Marie glanced around the Fort‘s courtyard from her viewpoint near the gate. They had better hurry up if they wanted to join her; she could only wait so long before setting off.
The sturdy Highlander sighed slightly as she let the strap of her traveling sack slip from her shoulder. Setting the cloth bag settle onto the dusty ground beside her booted paws, she leaned against the interior of the Fort‘s strong walls, resting the back of her head on the cool stone. In the shade of the wall a slight chill crept beneath her simple clothes. Crouching, she flicked open the top of her bag and lifted out the short, moss-colored vest that lay messily folded there. Slipping it over her beige tunic, she tugged at its bottom hem to straighten it. Resting back on her heels, she rubbed her forearms. I might need the cloak b‘fore this day‘s o‘er with. It‘s colder than I thought it‘d be, that‘s fer sure. I hope the others dress warmly.
The Commander‘s thoughts flitted over the group of Guardians who had volunteered for Patrol duty. She knew most of them relatively well, having worked and trained and fought beside them. On the other paw, there were several of them she didn‘t know very well at all. That shrew, Crikulus, for example. The young ottermaid was another. Marie straightened, suddenly overcome with a desire to get things going.* Hurry up already! *Muttering under her breath, she clenched and unclenched her right paw, impatiently tapping the sapphire pommel stone of the simple dirk at her waist with her left. Her paws were itching to start the day‘s trek, but she was bound to stay until the others arrived. Starting without them would be pointless; it was not especially safe to travel through Mossflower alone, even with the Guardians around to protect the ancient woodlands from vermin. A bit calmer now, but still impatient, Marie forced herself to relax.* Come on, now…

*Tasna blinked as sunlight crept through her dirt-ringed window. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. The otter had fallen asleep easily that night before, knowing that she would be on patrol. She stretched as she walked over to her window, opening it. She stuck a paw out to feel the temperature. It would be a crisp day and she would need to dress warmly. Now closing the window again, she turned to see if the clothes she had left on the end of her bed had fallen off or not. They were still there. Tasna smiled and walked over to them* I better hurry. I don't want to make the others wait.
*After dressing, the ottermaiden walked over to a crate in her bedroom. She opened it and pulled out a navy blue cloak* Haven't worn this in awhile. *She flung it around and tied the string into a bow. She closed the crate and grabbed her belt and cutlass. She strapped on her belt and slipped her cutlass into it's loop. She sighed and sat on her bed, grabbing her light tan, fringed moccasin boots and sticking her footpaws into them* There, all set. Oops, better hurry. *Tasna scurried over to her bow, which she had left by the door the night before. The arrows flung around from where they were attached on the bow. She slung it across her back and opened her door. She jogged to the spot where Marie would be waiting* I hope I'm not too late.
*Spotting Marie waiting, Tasna sighed of relief when she saw no one else was there. She would have been embarrassed being the last one there. The otter slowed her pace and grinned at the mouse* Good morning Commander Marie. Fine day it is today, isn't it?

*Marie hoped in vain, for the hare was not wearing warm clothes. He shivered in cold and disgust as he walked through the woods, searching for his comrades. Dressed lavishly, Rinafera was wearing his finest attire; but it was not warm. A beige, short sleeved button-down was around his chest, covered by a light, chocolate brown tunic and black pants reaching to around his ankles. On top of his pointy, white-furred ears was the brown hood, covering most of his face. Rinafera approached Tasna, smiling to the ottermaid. His eyes caught Marie and he shrugged, a smile settling upon his face.* Hello, Commander M'rie. Er, um, Commander Yewbow. *He rubbed his eyes, shaking off the sleepy spells.
Rinafera was not in the best mood. He could not convince Daisyblade that the Horde would be a good place to go and though he loved GoM with his entire heart, the hare was so intrigued by the Horde. It seemed so out there; much like the Guardians of Mossflower, yet many different beasts. He had heard of wolverines and jackals and then wanted to go, but when Daisyblade heard this, she freaked and said that 'they must be evil there.' However, the Guardian could not blame her. After all, a young haremaid entering a new place for the first time and meeting wolverines and jackals? Daisyblade had had her share of bad beginnings, and Rinafera knew that. However, the Horde seemed so mysterious. Mysteries always call Rinafera Woxiwtty III to solve them, and this was no exception.
He swatted a bug from the back of his neck, while resting a paw on his scimitar with the other. The hare sighed and nodded to the mouse, winking at Tasna on his way. Rinafera leaned a against a tree, simply sitting there, waiting for something interesting to happed. The hare thought about Daisyblade and obviously Cragg, his best friend in the world. If he never went to the Horde, Cragg would be great there. It was his style. But the hare threw these thoughts aside, sniffing in the aroma of the maple tree, filling his nose with the nice cedar wood and maple smell. It reminded him of his former home, Salamandastron, but in a good way. After all, he did not leave Salamandastron on good terms with his fellow officers. They can't bally protect their own flippin' corporal... Perilous hares? No, sah. He said to himself, biting his lip.
He still vividly remembered the death of Corporal Pipsword, the greatest hare he had ever met. It was a bleak battlefield; overcast skies, blood filling the air, and all on a hill no less! The Long Patrol were at the top of the hill, but they were being pushed back higher by the seemingly countless troops under Ragtwup Pillage, a ferocious ferret from the northern mountains. The 8th Regiment of the Long Patrol was backed up until it fell from the other side of the hill, most hares simply rolling down it. Rinafera, Captain of Communications and Prisoners at the time, watched as the hares failed to protect noble Pipsword. They did not interfere as the ferret, Pillage, approached with his mighty cutlass. The battle heated on and as Rinafera attempted to rush up the hill and save his Corporal, hares continued to allow themselves to be pushed back until it was too late. Coporal Pipsword died that day, and because of the lack of help he received, they also lost the battle.
Rinafera had an argument with the Commander, one of the hares who fled, and then later resigned, throwing his medal into the sea. But he now brandished two new medals; a Blue for service and loyalty to Guardians of Mossflower, and one he killed a rat for during his training to be a Boundary Guardian. The hare sighed a deep, bellow sigh and pushed with his paws to get up. He nodded to Marie again, this time posing a question.* Commander, when does the jolly journey begin? *He asked, looking her straight in the eye. The hare shrugged and sat down on a tree stump, fidgeting with his boots. Pulling them up slightly, Rinafera breathed heavily, impatiently waiting for the journey to begin and when they would begin to trek.* Do you the think the shrews will be happy to see us? *Rinafera asked Tasna, a grin on his face.*

OOC: Couple of things, Rina: first, we're not in Mossflower yet, we're still inside the Fort. Marie's waiting in the shadow of the wall, watching across the courtyard. Now, I might've misread your post, but it sounded like Rinafera was approaching from the woodlands. That's fine if you want to RP it that way, but you'd have to enter the Fort first. ^^
Also, we don't know we're going to be involved with the shrews yet. It's probably my fault for not being clear enough in my post, but at this point our only destination is the River Moss, then we would circle back around to GOM. Marie's secretly hoping to meet up with the otters, and it'd be fine if the others assumed they might as well, but the shrews don't come in until the Skipper sends us off to Redwall. =D So yeah... It wouldn't make a lot of sense for Rina to be seeing that far ahead. ^^
Again, partially my fault. >> My post was horribly undetailed for an opening post. My apologies. Nice writing, though! ^^
