Tritan Stormfarrow leaned against a large boulder at the bottom of the Eastern Cliffs. Since he had been young, he had developed a peculiar interest in climbing. That's why he had been made lookout aboard his father's ship. He looked at his callouse-ridden paws and thought of meverything he had climbed so far. Shipmast, various trees, boulders, small mountain... He shook off those memories and started exercising, hoping somebeast would come to him for advice on climbing.
He stretched his arms and legs and unstrapped his spears. They would only get in the way. Next he dropped his belt, from which dangled a cutlass and a sickle. The otter then unsuccessfully performed a couple of back walkovers and cartwheels, half-hobbling after each one. Then he did a few push-ups and practice-climbed on the boulder he had been leaning on.
Then he thought of something. Maybe he could teach beasts how to fight while climbing and keeping their balance. For this he took back his belt, but left only his cutlass on it. One was enough. Tritan calmly awaited for someone to spar/climb with.

I'll fight you, otter. *Quickbow unsheathes his twin swords, and waits for his opponent to make the first move.*

The otter in question eyed his to-be opponent. Quickbow looked eager to start, but did he want to climb, too? Hmm, twin swords, could use it to his advantage-it was hard to climb with no hands free. Tritan was relieved he had gotten rid of his sickle earlier.
His attention turned to his challenger. "You wanta climb and fight or jus' fight?"

Tritan nodded and took up a fighting stance on one of the boulders and assured a grip on both his cutlass and a rock jutting out from the cliff. He maintained perfect balance with his footclaws and smiled confidently, the light breeze ruffling his fur. "Yore move, I'm waitin'."

Tritan smiled. They all did that. Climb higher, then jump down. He neatly sidestepped, letting Quickbow fall onto near rocks. Footpaws playing on the assortment of basalt, granite and sediments, he ran across a wall of stone and jumped across gaps, mentally challenging Quickbow to catch him. He was in his specialty now. He had the upper paw. For now.
Cutting down under Quickbow he jumped up to slash at him but grazed his knee on a rock, a movement that somewhat mistimed his hit.

*Rowan is walking by the Eastern cliffs, enjoying the tranquil setting when he sees Quickbow and Tritan fighting. Climbing up a a boulder, he sits there, his eyes hooded with the hood of the tattered black cloak he has had since the storm. He grins with anticipation, and waits for their next move.*

*The otter noticed the arrival of the fellow fighter with great interest. He hadn't seen that face before. Just then, he noticed the swing that Quickbow made with his sword and dodged it nimbly, but he fell down onto some lower rocks, jamming his leg between two rocks. Now handicapped of all movement, he hefted a small boulder and hurled it at his opponent.*
'Ey, Quicky, yew 'ungry? I got some rockin' tucker right o'er here.

*Rowan gasps with renewed interest as Tritan falls, and jams his leg between two rocks. Then he smiles when Tritan hurls the small boulder at Quickbow. He peers at the two, waiting for Quickbow to retaliate.*

*Still helplessly stuck, Tritan resumed loosening stones to free himself and to throw at the opposant as Quickbow continued climbing down, slowly but surely. He tore at surrounding vegetation in fury to get out, and his paw encountered something that wouldn't rip out. He looked at his left forepaw, and it was clutching a strong vine that was firmly embedded in the stone above. Not believing his luck, he gave the vine an experimental tug. It held fast. THe stones around his footpaw were quite loose by now, but too tight to pry apart. He started pulling himself up with the vine, whose suction cups were slowly detaching from the cliff as it tautened. Tritan prayed that it would hold, as the taut vine became straighter and straighter--closer and closer to Quickbow. *

**Quickbow carefully climbs farther down, heading for the taut vine.** Get down now or I'll cut this rope! **He puts his sword on it to prove his point.**
